I have been an armchair climbing enthusiast ever since staying up half the night reading Annapurna when I was about 12 or 13 years old. But until now, my main focus has been the Himalayas. Then, on a recent vacation, I picked up a copy of Royal Robbins "To Be Brave" in an outdoor store, and quickly became hooked on big wall rock climbing as well. These photos are perfect. The obsession and skill and the quirkiness and spirit and love and oh, Yosemite.

Make sure you read the notes at the end - some amazing anecdotes. I quite enjoyed the short essays as well (only three) and wished there was a bit more to read, but that's what some of the other books are for. I find myself wanting to own this because I can see myself flipping through it again and again and again.

it's got pictures! what's not to love!? i enjoyed reading the notes and contributed essays immensely and wish there were more to go along with Glen Denny's wonderful photos.
