At their first official part as a couple, he hears Ali’s daughter, Erin, and her best friend, Aimee Biel talking. I have long been a fan of Coben's stand alone mysteries but not so much his Myron Bolitar books but I really enjoyed this one. The sports/entertainment agent overhears his girlfriend's teenage daughter and her friend talking about a friend who 'was so wasted' and Myron flashed to his teenaged years and his friend who was killed when riding with her 'wasted' boyfriend. Myron told both of these girls that if they ever got into any situation where they needed help - no matter when, no matter wher...more

Every time I read a book by Harlan Coben, I say "This is the best book I've ever read!" And it's true -- until the next Coben novel comes along.

In "Promise Me," Coben writes the return of his flagship character, Myron Bolitar. And Bolitar brings with him all the characters and craziness we've become used to -- Big Chief Mama, Win, Zorra, and more.

As usual, the plot is impeccably arranged, unexpected without becoming erratic, and peppered with the wittiness and humor...more

Finally finshed this one... the length of time it took for me to read this book should only partially reflect the quality of the story contained within... obviously, if the story were riveting, I wouldn't have been able to put it down. I enjoyed the story, and in typical Coben fashion, there were twists & turns at the end, though not as many as in previous reads. "Who done it" wasn't who I thought done it, though I've stopped trying to predict this author's stories. All in all a de

I read it to see what the big deal was about him -- it's strictly genre. It's not badly written, but other than that it has all the earmarks -- characters are introduced and killed off for the convenience of the moment, the main character has a best friend who is conveniently a trained assassin, the plot is unbelievably convoluted and based on very little. I'm not sure why people like that kind of thing, but they must -- he sells a lot of books.

I love Harlan Coben's series featuring Myron Bolitar: ex-professional basketball player turned sports agent and private detective. This book is a continuation of the series -- but not the best of the group. The character development for the supporting characters seems weak and/or not believable, even though the focus is on Myron. One gets the feeling that the author is tiring of the genre -- or the characters. Still a good read, however.

One of my favorite authors. I know some people find popular NY Times top 10 bestselling fiction a bit trite in terms of writing quality, but Harlen Coben manages to write simply while retaining the most clever ability to throw out zingers. This book takes place around Ridgewood so it's really fun for a Bergen County native to get into half the places he mentions. And the story just sucks you right in.

Met Harlan at the book signing for this book - he's amazing and so damn funny! This book is a Myron, but set much later than the others. It's more contemplative and I love it, but... Myron's a bit more fiesty in the previous books - he's more mellow, but no less kick-ass in this one! And - Win's still around and having Myron's back - doesn't get much better than that!

After hearing recommendations from DeAnn, I decided to try a Harlan Coben book - particularly after seeing it for only $5.50 from Costco. It was really good! I don't normally read the suspense/mystery genre, but couldn't put this book down and read it instead of writing a paper. I am definitely going to read some other of his books.

i didn't realize this was part of a series until after i started it. it was a very good book. while i kinda guessed the ending, i was still shocked by it. there was enough of a twist to it to leav my mouth hanging open.

i wasn't even that lost by reading this book first and not starting at the beginning.

This is my first book by Harlan Coben. I enjoyed it and will probably read more books by him. My only complaint is that this is part of a series and he referred to events and people from previous books but didn't provide enough information for those of us that haven't read any other in the series.

Read this book so fast, I didn't have time to put it on my currently reading list. I enjoyed it. I think I'll have to keep getting Coben's stuff from the library. I had to stay up late last night to finish the book!! Sort of a weird ending, but the rest of the book was great.

Myron Bolitar suffers in comparison to Robert Crais' Elvis Cole - both private eyes with out-there sidekicks. I had previously tried Darkest Fear, and didn't get past the first few pages. Nevertheless, after a slow start this became a real page-tuner, and quite enjoyable.

One of the 9 books that I read on my honeymoon, no I wasn't bored. If you like mystery novels about sports agents, this is for you. Kind of a strange concept, but very entertaining. A quick read for me like 4 hours. Nice way to spend a day on the beach in St. Lucia.

all harlen coben books are fun - they are mysteries that take place in new jersey so you read about nyc and route 17 and 4 and the GW bridge. many of them feature the same people, but you don't have to read them in sequence. they are a fun read.

what a guilty pleasure! my dad gave me this book to read and i just got sucked right in. it's an action packed kidnapping mystery that you will read in one day. the end wasn't that great but the book was still overall very entertaining.

I like this author and the series with Myron Bolitar as the protagonist and his old buddy, Win, as the unlikely tough guy. This one doesn't disappoint as Myron is drawn back into an intrigue involving an old friend's daughter...

another myron bolitor book!! Witty and obviously not wiser in his ways- he gets caught up in a missing person case. Did she runaway or is there foul play. Myron is the only one who can put all the pieces together...

If you want a book that you can't put down, then grab any of Harlan Coben's books. I absolutley ADORE him as a mystery author, especially the Myron Bolitar series. Myron Bolitar is my hero!

I liked that this book took place in North Jersey. Good story, some parts are far fetched and the book is a little bit drawn out. However, it had an amazing ending that I didn't see coming.
