Awful self help book of the worst kind. I read this because someone gave this to me and I felt oblidged to read it. Sharma's thinly disguised self-help parable is a compilation of ideas borrowed from other books wrapped up in a tale of new age eastern mysticism - misrepresenting Buddhist thought as work harder self-help along the way. I've nothing per se against self-help, I'm for whatever gets you through the night, but I suspect that a bit like diet books they are the sort of things people ...more

Act as if failure is impossible, and your success will be assured. Wipe out every thought of not achieving your objectives, whether they are material or spiritual. Be brave, and set no limits on the workings of your imagination.
Never be a prisoner of your past. Become the architect of your future.
You will never be the same.

Have you ask yourself what's your dharma? This book provokes my inner thoughts and feelings about my dharma. I like some of the quotes highlighted in the book...
Happiness is a journey. It is a choice that you can make. Enjoy the special moments that everyday offers because today, this day is all you have.
Always remember the power of laughter. Like music, it relieves life's stresses and strains. Keep a vow of silence.
Live each day as if it is your last. I tell myself I'll never regret ...more

Frequently patronizing and boring. Repeats itself far too often to convey the simplest message. The central fable is certainly no literary masterpiece, however, since the message it conveys is good, I would suggest speed-reading this just to get the big picture.
Meant mostly for middle aged people and for younger folks that have no idea what they are doing with their lives.

because the title is catching, the book seems very catchy but its other way round...though the thoughts expressed in the book worth a praise but the its written in the first 4 pages only...n the rest of the pages its just how english is manipulated n it goes round and round and round...i culdnt sustain reading this book for more than 40 pages.

Too moralistic and patronising...the central theme of the book is indicated so cryptically and over so many pages...that you seem to think that the book is dragging on forever...it would have helped if the book would have been written as a fable..like "The Alchemist"

It is for those who want to take big steps in their lives without being confident enough to take the decision, read it. & it's for those who are very much attatched to the materialistic style of life and tired of it, read it.

So far it is an amazing book with a powerful message presented in the form of a simple fable. Still reading and so will update when done....
