A classic trilogy. "Interview with the Vampire" is its own beast, while the other two go hand to hand as Lestat's answer to Louis' chronicle. While "Interview with the Vampire" is the better known of all the Vampire Chronicles, and the story is very good, Louis' bleak and whiny vision of the world drags down the reading experience. Lestat, on the other hand, enhances his own story, making it a very fun read. Best of the three would be the last one, "The Queen of the Damn

Author: Anne Rice
Genre: Science fiction
Rating: 4 stars
In the beginning we meet the Vampire named Lestat. He tells us about his life when he was a young boy, but does not spend too much time on that subject. He goes on and talks about his adventure with his pet dogs into the woods to hunt a few wolves that keep attacking the village. His mother and father order him to go and slay the creatures, so they send him off wit a mare and a nice, powerful gun. He finds out that the More...

this collection of vampire tales by Anne Rice starts off with the story:Interview with the vampire,
In 1791, Louis was a young indigo plantation owner living south of New Orleans, Louisiana. Distraught with guilt over the suicidal death of his younger brother and seeking death in any way possible, Louis is approached by a vampire named Lestat, who desires for Louis company. Interview with the Vampire was my first Anne Rice book and I quickly became a fan. Some folks complain that it starts out slowly, I was very quickly intriged by Louis and his turning at the hands of Lestat. Once Claudia entered the picture I was completely hooked. From there this story and the whole 3 book tale only gets better and better. I loved the whole culture of the Vampires as imagined by Anne Rice. Her prose is a little lush for some but for me it fits the story perfectly. She too

I've read these before and they are some of my favorite books of all time. Anne Rice does such a wonderful job of exploring the mind of beings who could potentially live forever.

I read this book (I think this is an audiobook, but I read the collection) and while the story was very interesting and compelling, it was too descriptive for me. Rice's writing style is to describe everything to death with the idea that vampires see everything more clearly and feel everything more strongly. As a friend of mine once said, "Eventually a chair is just a chair," and that is my only real complaint with this book. Otherwise, it is a great vampire story - and one of the last

This review is specific to my latest Anne Rice book, Interview with the Vamire. While Louis isn't as sexy or smart or savagely classy as Lestat he does have a certain appeal. However he lives his undead life so dead. My favorite character out of this book was opf course Claudia. She is me! She is the child vampire who was changed at such a young age she has no signs of humanity she is purely evil, purely monstrous a murderer who doesn't know what love is. MAN she is sexy! Her swagger is so ofici

Interview with the Vampire: 2.5 stars
I read this book a few months ago, and honestly, I don't see what all the fuss is about. I saw the movie many times before I read the book. I wasn't crazy about the movie either, but loved Antonio Banderas in it. It took me a long time to finish this book. I kept putting it down in favor of something more interesting. I found it to be very boring and long-winded. I've just started reading The Vampire Lestat and I already find it to be vastly more intere More...

I am currently only on page 62 of Interview with the Vampire. Already, I can say that this is a compelling read with a lot of philosophical and ethical pondering. It has certainly made me stop reading from time to time and examine my own ethics and philosophies. Already I can see how immortality gives Vampires an eternity to ponder things, and the conclusions they come to ring true even in mortality.

My friend Nathan recommended Interview with the Vampire to me and it just happened to be in this little nifty combination of books. :o) He'd only read the first two and I was determined to read all of them.

Annie Rice's Vampire is one of lust and Romance. She brings in the era of the Vampire, a new craze that brings about the likes of Twilight Series and the Vampire Diaries. She gave the vampires a face and really shows the true life of a vampire. A fantasy world that is fun to read and without teen drama. Great read and wonderful stories!

Also read The Body Thief. I had never read these books and enjoyed the adventure. Queen of the Damned was dense and a lot of expostion, almost a treatise on men have ruined civilization and women have to fix it by getting rid of them. But that would not work would it. What an iron maiden the queen is and the king... well read the book.

LOVED all these books and the rest of the series too. They are well-written, well-crafted stories. I have not found other vampire books that come close to Anne Rice's books. Also recommend Tale of the Body Thief. Read the whole series. I spent an entire year reading only Anne Rice books. Couldn't get enough. Fabulous.

Well the precurser of all the twilight drama, Lestat was Edward. We loved Lestat before Edward came along. This was one of the few books I read in high school and at the time thought it was great. I got burnt out on the series after Queen, though.

I love Anne Rice and the entire Vampire Chronicles. Interview with the Vampire movie is one of my favorite movies. These books are captivating, dark, and beautiful. I fell in love with some of the characters.

Anne Rice is my all time fave writer. The Vampire Chronicles was awesome even if the movies sucked. Read also The Mayfair Witches chronicles and the Taltos chronicles, she truly is an amazing writer.

I've only read the first one. To be honest, I'm not in any hurry to read the next two, though I might at some point. I found it was beautifully written, but lacked real plot.

For me the first book started out slow however as I read on it really picked up, then I was hooked. I had a hard time putting it down. Books two and three kept me wanting more.

Interview with a Vampire- I really liked this book it was as it was described on the back horrible in places but extremely compelling. I didnt find Louis melancholy to draining. But I do wander if this interview was the last thing he did before he was ready to end his life.
The Vampire Lestat- I think he is quite honestly insane. But I suppose that you can understand the torture of seeing time passing and you remaining the same but i am so glad that we find out that Louis is ok and Ga More...

I really enjoyed having all 3 books in one book. Took me a while to get through all 3 of them and I'm not a huge fan of the middle one but overall an awesome set of novels.

The first two book were good, not great, but good. However, I couldn't even get past CH 2 in the third one... it just sucked that bad.

Rice's writing is well above average in this genre, to the point that I found myself spiraling into depression while reading about the vampires' ennui. I stopped in the middle of the second book, and will probably pick it back up some other time. Definitely worth a read.

I didn't give it 5 stars, because it is a collection. "Interview" was really the best, deserving of 5 stars. The others are good.

If you like trashy vampire novels, this is the series to get. Psychologically thrilling and way better narrative than Twilight.

The Vampire Lestat:
I actually enjoyed this quite a bit - mostly because I grew to like the characters of the first book and the material was all new. As much as I didn't care for Lestat in the film, he was surprisingly charming in the book. This book had a more immediate feel than Interview With The Vampire and that made it more enjoyable. Her husband's poetry makes annoying chapter openers and I'm rather tired of the dragging nature of her writing and the way she skips over parts that I w More...

Interview with the Vampire was a twisted and disturbing book and I almost did not read on. Since I bought the trilogy all in the same book, I felt like I had to finish the whole thing otherwise I'd be giving up mid-book. I'm so glad I read on because The Vampire Lestat is a much better story and so far I am enjoying The Queen of the Damned.
