Kenyon makes the common poetic and without the need to be poetic. She trusts in her words and insight to come through in deceptively simple phrasing. The book is split into four sections, and the first two revolve around the seasons of winter and "mudseason." They are not simply seasonal poems, but fit within the time frame. Since I never read that many formalists or academic people, I liked Ms.Kenyon's book.
Easy to read and it keep my attention.
Since she was a New Hampshire poet, I must ask Dr. Pat Miller my sister in law (Derry, NH)
about if she knew Ms. Kenyon's work or if she could find her farm where she wrote.
I seen Robert Frost's home in Derry. It is time to go North again for a visit to the
Granite State from NJ.

I was always recommended this book because of its organization, and I think it's a good recommendation for that, but I dunno--much of the book leaves me cold. But I also kinda hate poetry (well, writing of any kind) that deals with nature, which I know makes me a bad person but I can't help it. While we're all being honest, I also hate weasels and any and all writing about weasels. Just saying. . .

Kenyon's strength is her great use of detail. They are all personal stories. Maybe her only flaws are that they are stories and a feeling I have that she is unable to take them to another level at times. But what a terrific writer.
