What do I say w/o sounding like the critics or the back of the book cover? I loved how he picked this title; from dialogue. The main character runs into her bosses office and he says you come running in here like Chicken Little screaming "The sky is falling, the sky is falling." I love that. But, this is really signature Sidney Sheldon. Once you begin reading, just buckle in and keep turning the pages. Once I reached like chapter 9 I had a difficult time putting it down. So much so, that I finis More...

I finished reading The Sky Is Falling, a second book by Sidney Sheldon, my friend Mary Lou recommended to me, whose style I took an instant liking to. Dana Evans, a news anchor, travels all over the world inquiring about leads to the death of Gary Winthrop, a senatorial hopeful. She has recently adopted Kemal, a little boy with one arm and takes a liking to Jeff, a sports reporter. Kemal has trouble in school as he constantly retaliates after getting bullie More...

Seperti biasa, Sidney Sheldon lagi-lagi membuat gue bertanya-tanya siapa dalang dibalik kasus ini. Sempet nyoba-nyoba nebak, tapi ending-nya tebakan gue salah.

"E. Cromwell : More...

A fantastic read.In a normal book, the suspense is about who the killer is.But in this Sidney's masterpiece, the suspense builds right from the start on whether the consecutive deaths are murders are just a co-incidence.The character Dana Evans is portrayed with a surgeon's precision and I would love to meet such a character in real life. The cute love between Dana and Jeff, Jeff's concern for his ex-wife Rachel while she is in trouble are all simple things that make up this master-piece.The secret More...

Summary: Dana Evans, newscaster extraordinaire with the perfect boyfriend and an adoptee from Kosovo, stumbles onto a conspiracy to kill off a family of impeccably behaved philanthropists. Can she figure it out before the bad guys get her?

Picked up as part of a huge box lot for £60. One of the more amusing revelations from the box!

This contains so many stereotypes that it’s highly entertaining. There is a “royal family” of do-gooders who are indubitably wonderful, but actually one of them had a More...

This book is bad, no doubt about it. Dippy dialogue, cornball characters, predictable plotting, and a drawn-out narrative to a convoluted conclusion of idiotic double-crosses. Despite of all this, or maybe because of all this, I was very entertained by the book. Go figure! It's about a television journalist that starts to investigate the mysterious deaths of 7 related people and stumbles upon a big conspiracy that threatens her life. She'll have to get through almost 200 filler pages of endless More...

I read this book to prepare for a First Reads book that (perfect timing) arrived yesterday. I have to admit, I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was definitely worth the read, and I wouldn't mind picking it up again for a deeper read. Although, I'm not sure a deeper read is possible. This is a book where the suspense is palpable, but the characters are a little flat. If you're looking for a book where the mystery is intense, this is for you. On the other hand, if you're looking for characters t More...

A friend of mine insisted that i must read this after she discovered that i haven't read this writer before. She was like, ' You haven't read Sidney Sheldon before?! How shocking. You must give it a try.' Before that i've had this vague impression that i'd gave it a try some time back and i didn't like this writter. I didn't quite finish the book and haven't felt the need to read this writer again. So i was like, "O.k i'll give it a try'.

This was how i came across this book. And i must More...

Efficiently brisk and reliably suspenseful, Sheldon's novel demonstrates that this veteran master of commercial fiction has not lost his touch. Freshly returned to Washington, D.C., from a stint reporting in Sarajevo, TV newscaster Dana Evans (introduced in Sheldon's "The Best Laid Plans") struggles to cope with her new adopted son, troubled 12-year-old Kemal, whose parents and sister were killed in the fighting.

Back on the job, Dana interviews youngish millionaire Gary Winthrop, the scion of a More...

Reading this book is like putting all the pieces together to solve an interesting Jigsaw Puzzle.

Sky Is Falling is an awesome thriller/mystery/romance book by Sidney Sheldon.

It’s about the story of Dana Evans, is a famous TV reporter, who has just come back from her stint on war coverage in Sarajevo. She adopted Kemal, a young boy from Saravejo who had lost one his arm in a war blast.

Then she interviewed Gary Winthrop, the last surviving member of a beloved philanthropic family before he was m More...

Having skipped previous Sheldon "airplane" (fast forgettable) books (this one even had (my old?) boarding pass still as a bookmark), I almost didn't start this. But rich trappings subordinate to investigations, engaged couple engages more than affairs or violence. After "Best Laid Plans", Washington DC TV news anchor Dana Evans suspects "like Chicken Little .. the sky is falling" p51 a major world conspiracy and murder when five members of the rich Winthrop family die "accidentally" in a single More...

I picked this book up because it was a "New York Times bestseller" and I had never read anything by Sidney Sheldon and wanted to see what I thought of him as an author. Answer: Not much. Situations are contrived, characters don't feel like real people. Just about every page has something on it that strains credibility, or seems fake or contrived. Conversations don't feel real. Situations don't feel real. There are lots of stupid little mistakes and inconsistencies. I won't pick up any more Sidne More...

I'm new to fiction so don't take my words as gospel but I really enjoyed reading the book. I loved the Rachel's storyline and I couldn't help crying when she sent off Jeff. Sidney Sheldon really knows how to play with reader's emotions and I mean it. You can never predict that what's gonna happen next. Surprises seem natural and when they come they literally concern you. Sheldon sketches the characters of his books in a way that you can always relate to the character and you More...

this book was about an anchorwoman called Dana. She tries to do a report on a family that was really famous, she wanted to report about how all of them died all of a sudden. she tries to get a lot of information, she goes to different countries to find out the truth. but she doesn't realize that her life is in danger by doing that, because some people want to keep it a secret and do not want it to be out in public. I picked this up at a library sale, having never read anything from Sheldon before, and the dust jacket spoke highly of him and his other work (books, TV shows, awards, etc.). Well, it's obvious they weren't talking about this book. This one contains a very thin plot, foreseeable twists, and very little imagery outside of the basic story. Good authors, who do their homework, can put the reader in the character's shoes - what they're thinking, feeling, and seeing. Here you have a main character w More...

Supposed to be the sequel of Best Laid Plans. But Leslie Stewart doesn't appear but rather a news reporter from the previous novel named Dana Evans. She's makin this great expose about underground cities creating nuclear power. Cool. So informative. Can't believe that underground factories really exists. The author noted that at the end of the novel. Great adventure. Same thrill. Get shocked with the villain.

A friend of mine lent me some of her books to try out. I read this one first and decided it wasn't too bad. Not the best of fiction, but not a complete waste of time either. A female reporter brings back an orphan but leaves him behind as she travels the world a lot and solves the mysterious deaths of a famous family (which reminded me of the Kennedy family).

This book was a quick read, which I enjoyed for a change. I hadn't read any Sidney Sheldon since the last decade! Although this was written in 2000, I still enjoyed following Dana around the globe as she visited places I've also been to. One of her thoughts made me chuckle (and made me think of Tom): "Who in their right mind would visit Russia in the winter?"

I could not put this book down! There wasn't a single boring moment, I swear. Good paced, fun, thrilling, and disturbing, there was a cliff-hanger at the end of every single chapter. It's very common on Sidney Sheldon novels to have a surprising end that no one could have seen coming, and this one is no different. Although I'm used to his style and learned to expect the unexpected, his stories keep me guessing and misleading me to wrong conclusions, so there is ALWAYS a surprise. Definitely my f More...

This book was absolutely amazing. The whole suspense over the murders kept me going. Not only was it all thrilling, but it had a lot of sentiment aswell between the protaganist and her adopted son. If you're the type of person with the urge for murder mystery, then this is the book for you :D

Yawn. Another book from the box o' paperbacks (I am beginning to sense why my neighbor is getting rid of them..). Written in the early nineties - characters were pretty lame. Tons of story lines and none of them intriguing enough to develop - apparently even for the author.

A fast paced, exciting novel. I'm too lazy to write a proper review now.
It was recommended to me by a friend. I started off not being that interested. But the writing was direct and to the point. I finished in a day, couldn't put it down.
