Although my last two reviews of books from the Junie B. Jones series were harsh, I do still enjoy the series. Junie B., First Grader: Boss of Lunch (#19) is the second book in the series where Junie B. has moved onto first grade.
In these later books she is better settled and more mature. Junie B. loves being in first grade but she misses some of the perks of being a kindergartner, like the cookies she used to get at snack time.

Junie B. is excited about her new lunch box. It is too much of a temptation, so she keeps peaking at it during class, much to her teacher’s annoyance. When lunch finally comes, Junie B. is a little disappointed that none of her friends brought their lunches as well. She notices that one of her classmates has a cookie just like the ones that Mrs. Gutzman brought to her class when she was in kindergarten. She is trilled that Mrs. Gutzman is one of...more

This book is a childs book but i love to read Junie B. Jones. So far all the books are good and i have to read more. I have read many of Barbara Park's book but this one is the best so far. I hope she keeps making these books. I almost have all of them.

My sister gave me this book when I was actually a lunch lady, so it has a special place in my heart.
Junie B. seems way too sophisticated to be a real kid. She's really sassy and spunky, which is good, but she really doesn't ring true to me.

Junie B. learns how to be a helper in the school cafeteria, with typical hilarious and disastrous results. Our girls love this series!

Do you ever remember wanting nothing more then to help in the cafeteria during lunch? Junie is all smiles when she learns this what she gets to do and I smiled ear to ear through each page. Her excitement about such a simple task is entoxicating.

I super loved it! Junie B's friend May, the tattle-taler that sits next to her, said that brought lunches were the best but Junie B said school lunches were better. So Junie B became a helper at school in the cafeteria.
