This is a romance book about an overweight lady that kicks out her unloving husband from her house, does good in business, starts losing weight to become a lean and beautiful woman, wins the lotto, and ends up with a hot guy. Pretty simple and easy coming life, eh? Almost unbelievable right? Yep, that is what I thought. Unbelievable.

Everything was too good to be true, too easy to be attainable, and yet, Rosie got it all in the end. The dream of every woman: beauty, riches, and a hot

-Pretty woman is a story about the life of Rosalie" Rosie" Gardener Bliss: a woman with fourteen size. She married a handsome guy name Kent Bliss even her best friend "Vickie" tried to tell her about her fiance's dishonest before the day of marrying. At this time love is blind for Rosie. She realized that Vickie was right after three years of unhappy marriage in which she put on her weight for fifty-five pounds. On the third wedding anniversary day, Rosie fed up with her husban...more

This novel was totally a different read, I do not usually immerse myself in this type of book but I enjoyed it as a change. In my view, this is a real Chick book and should be in the category of Harlequin Romance or maybe Danielle Steel....or any others in the same line.

On her wedding anniversary fed up with her husband's mistreatment, the heroine kicks him out and begins a diet and exercise regime, learns to trust love again and jump into life with a passion.

It is an ins...more

Shelves: chicklit
Fun, entertaining chick-lit romp which sometimes deviates into corniness, but has such endearing characters that you can forgive the lapses.

Rosie is married to a man who hates her. She's put on weight while ignoring his affairs and negligence of the relationship, and has poured herself into her sucessful business. Her best friend tried to warn her before the wedding, and when Rosie wouldn't listen, she left for Europe. Her loyal housekeeper tried to tell her, but she dismissed it. ...more

Recommends it for: anyone
I love Fern Michaels, and collect all of her books.
This one,is for all the women who have ever felt like they were ugly ducklings, and mostly because of some jerk man who made them feel that way, left them or cheated and then left them, for someone the man thought was prettier than their wife.
This woman here, does a complete 360,and when it comes time for her husband to see her,he really doesn't recognize her,and when he does,he once again tries to make her feel badly, but, she has change...more

Question #10
Q.10.A. As you read today, what surprise you?
Rosie Bliss has been surprising me since the very beginning of the book because of her unconditional and great love for her husband Kent Bliss. This marriage has last three years already; however, the couple has reach their nadir point of disaster and unhappiness. I was stupefy when Rosie ended her friendship of childhood with her best friend Vickie when she told Rosie that sh...more

In Savannah, Georgia Vickie Williams warned her best friend and business partner Rosie Gardener not to marry the philandering Kent Bliss. Vickie accuses her size 6 friend of jealousy because a size 14 like her could have such a fiancé. Rosie accepts a job as companion to elderly Adeline Summers and leaves for Europe.

Three years later Rosie is miserable as Kent treats her like dirt except for short moments when she buys him expensive presents. She asks him to be home for their annive...more

I read this book before; but it was just as good the 2nd time around! Loved the characters and the changes they made in their lives.

A woman going through a divorce wins the lottery and debates whether to split the money with her ex or destroy the ticket. Great chick-lit!

I enjoyed seeing the positive changes that she made and that her ex made.

I am sick. That's my excuse. I don't read romantic fiction. But when you are queasy, a simple story line is better for your stomach. People who like stock characters in stories where the outcome is determined from the beginning pages can read this book comfortably. It is like a drive to the grocery store.

I enjoyed this romance novel. It kept my attention to and from work for a week. It was hard to stop somedays. It had everything in it, love, money, successful business with arrangements made from weeds, a best friend, a dog, inheriting millions, etc. It was read by a woman who had an appropriate voice.

A nice relaxing read. I picture Rosie and Vickie looking like Fern herself, someone you would like to know with no pretension. I didn't care for the spooky part with the swing and I didn't care for the reward that Kent ended up with at the end because it seemed evil was rewarded.

This was the first book by Fern Michaels I've read, which kind of surprises me. I enjoyed Pretty Woman, it was an easy read with a good story line. Some of the time transitions and the character transformations bugged me, but overall a nice quick read.

This was an awesome book about the ability of a woman to make over her life after a scumbag of a man leaves her. She loses 55 pounds, runs in a triathalon, and learns how to be graceful under pressure. A definite feel-good book!

Little romance, little woman breaking free from her unhappy marriage and life as a fatty. Quick read, satisfying ending. She ends up kicking her husband out and that very day wins a lottery worth $302 Million.

Fern Michaels is by far my favorite author these days. I just love everything I read or listen to of hers. Onto another one of her books now. Hope it's as good as all the others I've read so far.

The plot of this novel was very predictable and the characters were flat. I just could not bring myself to really care about what happened to them and the writing was a little cheesy. Not my favourite.

Uplifting story of a woman who changes her life and her friend's life. She even wins a marathon at the end of the book and captures the heart of a man who was her personal trainer.

Thought that this was a pretty good book. It showed how you look at yourself and that only you have the power to change and you have to do it for yourself and no one else.
Arci Ferrer
I like this book. I admire Rosy Gardner's determination to change her physicaly self and her heart as she forgive her husband's infidelities.

Meh. Stilted dialogue, an unbelievable plot, an improbable change of heart in the antagonist.
