Have you ever read one of those books where you just want to yell at the characters because they are too stubborn to see what is right before them? I certainly did in Desperate Measures by Fern Michaels.
Sometimes the person who stand in the way of you the most is your self. And no where is that more evident then in this tale of love and loss.
Pete may not have had a wealthy family, but his parents were loving. They would do anything for him. He had a best friend named Barn...more

Desperate Measures is a book about a man who had a really crummy life as a kid and then in college met a really good friend but had to go to desperate measures to figure out she was the one for him. He mets a woman who he decides to marry and the story takes lots of twist and turns before he finally gets back to his college friend and relizes she is the one. I love this story. It makes you think to take life and your relationships seriously and never give up. Unfortanually we sometimes have to g...more
Another Fern Michaels winner! This book got me so involved in this love triangle and my emotions were all over the place! From the beginning when Pete Sorenson lost his parents at an early age and went from foster home to foster home. The abuse he suffered and how he finally escaped from the system and ended up with his seemingly cold-hearted, but very rich Uncle. The love for his best friend, Annie and then his new fiance and how these three people's lives are entangled. A wonderful read.
Hard to put down. Found myself cheering for this poor little orphaned boy who spends so many years of his life waiting for his friend to come rescue him. Very well done, loose ends tied up nicely by the end of the story.
The version I read is a reprint of a 1994 original. I really enjoyed this story - a bit of romance, a bit of suspense, and some good location scenery.
Very good page turner - first time reading something by this author - never a dull moment.
I love all the Fern Micheals Sisterhood books. This one is no different.
This is a very great book, if you like "bro-mance!"
