Secret Life of a Vampire (Love at Stake #6)
A typical bachelor party is all about beers and beautiful women. A vampire bachelor party is no different -- except the men are drinking Blissky (whiskey-flavored synthetic blood). And no one can throw a party quite like Jack, the illegitimate son of the legendary Casanova. But when the party gets out of hand and the cops ...more
The vampires in this series are divided into two camps; Malcontents who want to rule the world and feed from humans at will, and the good vamps who feed off bottled blood and battle the Malco ...more
A chance meeting with a beautiful NYPD officer who's called to a vampiric bachelor party because of the noise and sword fighting has him in turmoil: he's drawn to o ...more
Jack and Lara were an interesting couple to read about. I liked reading about a character from Louisiana. Lara is fun and her friend LaToya is hilarous. Jack and Lara are a real ...more
And best of all, the story telling is always focused on the two main characters and their point of view rather, unlike another author in the genre who shall remain nameless.
Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my ...more
I was not too keen on this girl Lara. She's an idiot. She's a whimp. Supposedly tough, but just not a bad girl tough cop like she should be. Just an annoying curly haired red head who nags Jack for answers and figures out she's in love with him when she's in trouble. It's almost like this story was walking up a steep hill ...more
This book was good but it wasn't my favourite. I didn't really like the storyline about Apollo and their cult. It seemed to come out of knowhere. I found myself skimming through a lot of those parts.
I liked that this book started with Ian's bachelor party. But I was a bit dissapointed, I wish we actually got to see some of the party though.
Jack was a great hero I loved his flirtatious behaviour and he was so romantic and charming. But he and Lara together ...more
So anyway, once I got used to the different style, this one's ok. There are some cheesy aspects to it, but I thought Jack was a good guy. Lara kinda bugged me a little, being so stubborn and all.
I have to admit that I cringe a little every time they mention the stupid blood drinks - Bleer, Bliskey, etc. How do they keep a straight fac ...more
This could have been a 5 star book. It had everything, a Great Hero, a good plot with a mistery to solve and very funny moments. If only the heroine Lara did not have too many dumb moments that could have gotten her killed. Jack or Giacomo de Venezia was great seductive, smart and caring and LOL funny. Lara, was a police officer just out of the academy wanting to become a detective. Lara had a roomate Latoya who I hope does not become a lead character latter on. Over all it was a story ...more
I didn’t buy it. Not the book, I bought the book. I had to so I could read it. I didn’t buy the romance. It just did not work for me. They met each other briefly a few times and they are already in love with each other?
When a bachelor party for vampires gets out of hand and the cops get called, Giacomo de Venicia or Jack as he’s known by his friends gets stuck with convincing the two police officers that show up that everything is fine. He will just erase their memories and be done with i ...more
Being a huge fan of the Love at Stake series, I came into this book with huge expectations. I'm not going to lie, they fell a little flat after the first couple of chapters. I actually quit the book twice, and came back. I'm glad I came back, because once I was able to get over the rocky parts, the book was great.
I loved Giacomo; he was everything I was expecting and more. However, Lara and LaToya, they need some help in the characterization department. I couldn't stand ...more
Nothing's sexier than an man who can keep a secret. A typical bachelor party is all about beers and beautiful women. A vampire bachelor party is no different -- except the men are drinking Blissky (whiskey-flavored synthetic blood). And no one can throw a party quite like Jack, the illegitimate son of the legendary Casanova. But when the party gets out of hand and the cops show up, Jack has some explaining to do . . . if only he wasn't struck speechless by the beauty of Officer Lara Bouc
I love Jack so much (The guy on the cover is nowhere close to as handsome as I imagine him to be though) and I even like Lara. I think reading this a ...more

Nine circles of hell," Jack muttered.
Hell?" Lara asked. "I thought I was the Holy Land."
You're paradise. Unfortunately, I am stuck there."
Her eyes widened. "Stuck?"
Normally, I would love being stuck to your lovely bum, but it would look odd if we go sightseeing with my hand under your skirt. Especially in the basilica."
She glanced down. "How can you be stuck?"
My ring. It's caught in the lace. See?" He moved his hand down her hip, dragging her undies down a few inches.
Okay, stop." She bit her lip, frowning, then suddenly giggled. "I can't believe this has happened."
I assure you, as much as I had hoped to get your clothes off, this was not part of my original plan."
She snorted. "No problem. Just rip yourself loose."
Are you sure?" It will destroy you undies."
She narrowed her eyes with a seductuve look. "Rip it."
Very well." He jerked his hand away, but the panties came with him. He yanked his hand back and forth, but the lacy, latex material simply stretched with him. "Santo cielo, they are indestructible."
He continued to wage battle, but to no avail. "They could use this material to build spaceships.”
Phil muttered a curse. "If you say one word about this to the other guys, I will stake you in your sleep."
"Don't worry, sweetheart. If they find out about this, I'll stake myself.”
