Double Fudge
Double Fudge (Fudge #5)
by
Blume Judy
Any fan of Fudge knows that he never does anything halfway. And so it should come as no surprise that when he discovers the value of money, he goes whole hog-making his own "Fudge Bucks," dressing as a miser for Halloween, and thumbing through catalogs to choose his birthday presents years in advance. His older brother, Peter, who's just starting seventh grade, finds it al...more

The book I am read is the 4th book of Farley Drexel Hatcher a.k.a Fudge: Double Fudge. In Chapter one, Fudge ask Peter a question about Money and he becomes obsessed with money. Then one day, Fudge asks Shelia Tubbman: Peter's sworn enemy, how much money she got. It wasn't a polite thing to say and Shelia looked at Peter to think it was his fault for telling Fudge about money. When Fudge let out a cheer of Money, Uncle Feathers: Fudge's bird, repeats what Fudge said. I'm on Chapter 2 and I'm st...more
Double Fudge by Judy Blume was a surprisingly really great book I didn’t really know what the book was about because It’s name was ‘’Double Fudge’’, what’s that suppose to mean? Anyways ,I read the back cover and gave it a chance.
My favorite part about this book was when the Howie Hatchers came to visits and made the Hatchers angry and their apartment even smaller than what it seemed like. I also thought it was funny when Fudge and Mini-Farley got stuck in the elevator on Halloween. I was reall...more

Judy Blume is great and so is 'Double Fudge.' Being a very linear person, I had a little anachronistic adjustment to do here, as Peter Hatcher has grown from the nine-year-old he was in 'Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing' into a 12-year old. The confusion I felt with that is that 'Tales' was written in 1972 and 'Double' in 2002. Both contain period detail and ambience, and only familiar with 'Tales' and 'Otherwise Known as Sheila the Great,' I was ready for a 'Harriet the Spy'/'Mixed-Up Files of M...more
This book is about a boy named peter.he has a brother name fudge who is addicted to money thats all he talks about. he lives with his mom dad little sister, dog and his bird. since fudge was so addicted to money her parents have decided to take him to DC so he can learn more and to see if it quiets him down a little bit more. But instead there father ends up finding his long lost cousin Howie. Money, Money, Money $$$... "I love money, money, money!!!" is Fudge's new theme song. He's drawing money signs$ for breakfast, thumbing through catalogs at bedtime, and making enough "Fudge Bucks" so he can buy the whole world (or at least Toys "R" us). Fudge's latest obsession is driving his brother Peter insane! But life starts going coo-coo when Peter and his family meet their long-lost relatives, the Howie Hatchers of Honolulu, Hawaii. Not only does Peter have to deal with the Natural Beautie...more

Double Fudge, by Judy Blume, is a fun and satisfying book. It is a great quick read for many. Peter is the protagonist of this book, and the problem in this book is that Fudge is overly obsessed with money, and it causes him to make unnecessary moves such as asking grown-ups how much they make. Also, besides Fudge, Peter's family had a reunion with his cousins who he had never heard about before. The theme present in this book is family problems.

This book by Judy Blume brings back the return of Peter Hatcher and his little brother, Fudge. In this comical storyline, they come across distant cousins from Hawaii who unexpectedly encounter each other while on vacation in Washington, D.C to visit the Bureau of Printing and Engraving and fulfill Fudge's obsession with money. The Hatcher family ends up inviting themselves to stay in New York City with Peter's family, and ends up in a story full of slapstick antics with a cousin who acts almost...more
Peter Hatcher is a 12 year old boy growing up in New York City. He has a younger brother, Fudge and a little sister that is about to turn 2, Tootsie. He has a best friend called Jimmy Fargo that lives in his same building. The story is basically about Fudge´s adventures told by Peter´s point of view. Fugde is getting very obsessed with money.

The fourth book in the Fudge & Peter series, this one came out something like 7 years after Fudge-a-Mania. Now being an adult when it came out, I wasn't exactly following the childrens' books news any more, so I had no idea it had come out until years later. When I saw it in a bookstore, I bought it along with Fudge-a-Mania right away because of my cherished memories of the reading the first two books in the series many years before when I was in grade school.

There should probably/maybe be room somewhere in my shelves for a "nostalgia" name, but frankly they're getting heedy and this book needs a little more ironing-out then just a throwaway shelf to be name in. Blume is definitely one of my favourite chidhood writers; she's the type I'd mention if I was ever at an inaugural meeting where each member would have to sit and recite, 'Hi everybody, I'm here because of my addiction to grating crayola into shreds at IKEA'. These books were a haven to me, i...more
Double Fudge by Judy Blume is a very popular children’s fiction chapter book. This is a pretty comical book; it will have you laughing and wanting to read more. Fudge is obsessed with money in this story, it is pretty much all he can think and talk about. As a kid, myself, I used to love reading books by Judy Blume. Judy Blume makes reading fun with her enjoyable and cute stories. I would recommend this book specifically to girls but boys as well because it is fun and has a great underlying stor...more
And I thought that I had the most annyoing brother ever. I didn't realize how wrong I was until I finished reading this book. My brother is nothing compared to Fudge and his mischief. But even though Fudge can really annoy Pete sometimes, I think that annoying Pete is kinda like Fudge's way of showing how much he loves his older brother.
My litte brother, Daniel, is really annoying and he's always like that unless he's watching T.V. My brother is nice... rarely and when he is he's usually not t...more

For Quarter II I picked to read Double Fudge. I am in chapter 11 of 16 and in page 128 of 213 and this book is ver y funny. So far, Fudge, the main character, is in love with money and he in oled money in everything like for example, he asked hin brother, Pete, how much does New York city cost. This was one of my favorite parts. Pete is actually the narrator. His best friend, Jimmy Fargo, moved to SoHo and is now far away from Pete. Mr. Fargo, Jimmy's dad, is an artist and thats why they moved t...more
This si book four in the fudge series. I have read book two and book four! I hate it when that happens but I got mine from the local library for the Judy Blume month thing and I took what they had.

I remember reading this book when I was younger like it was just yesterday. Fudge, a curious little boy, is five years old and just discovering money. He becomes obsessed with money and makes his own money called "Fudge Bucks". His parents, getting frustrated with his recent addiction, decide to take him to Washington, D.C. to the Bureau of Printing and Engraving so he could see the green stuff come hot off the press. While during their trip, they run into some relatives who end up staying with...more

Peter and Fudge are back in this fifth installment of the Fudge series, with Fudge stuck on the theme of money, but with no concept of how it is acquired. All he knows is that he wants tons of it so he can buy everything in the world. An ill-fated trip with his family to see the Bureau of Engraving and Printing causes the family to meet Dad's long-lost cousin, Howie Hatcher, and his family. Howie promptly invites himself and his brood to visit Peter's family in a cramped New York City apartment....more
This is a newer Fudge book. It was released in 2002 and it's not as good as the ones I remember from my childhood. It was still a great book, and had the same characters that you grew to love, but It just didn't feel the same.
I didn't like how they would introduce a character in this book (ex. Richie Potter) and then never have that character reappear, only every now and then when someone merely mentions their name. At least the characters mentioned in the other books had their entrances and ex...more

Summary- Fudge gets in love with money, and makes fake money called "Fudge Bucks".
Character Trait- Fudge is funny and defencive. He is funny because he swallows a turtle and pretends that he is the bird chirping at night. He is defencive because he doesn't want his cousin, Farley to have the same nick name as Fudge does.
Most Inportant Part- I think the most inportant part is when they meet their long lost cousins.
Recommendation- I recommend this book to anybody who likes funny books. Judy Blume...more

again, it was an okay book... pretty much all of judy blume's books are interesting but not something you'd call a really good read...
Another cute story about the life of Peter Hatcher and his obnoxious little brother, Fudge. Although this story throughout is not as inappropriate for children as Superfudge, the very last page is completely unnecessary as the Tooth Fairy is "outed" by the kindergartner (KINDERGARTEN!). Beware when having your children read this book. As the narrator is in 6th grade, it makes sense, but I think this book is very young for 6th graders so younger children would be drawn to it. I have no idea why t...more
The book Double Fudge is a really funny book. It is really funny when this little kid named Fudge tells his brother Pete a really funny thing I won't tell you what he said because then I will be a spoiler. In this book Fudge will really surprise you. One of my favorite part is when Pete tells his brother if he likes his enemy Sheila and Fudge says yes. This book is a book I enjoyed reading I hope that everybody who reads this will enjoy the book to.
It is about a young boy named Peter. He moved to new jersey for a year because his dad got a job and was going to write a book. His mother was thinking about going back to art collage. He makes a friend named Nathan and they make a buisness of worm selling but more like bait, except for this one house that puts it in her food and eats hem because they are nutricious. Fudge(Peters brother)gets a bird and it repetes everything and it is fudges very first bird. I realy like this book but I gave it...more
My son LOVED this book. It is the fourth book in the Peter and Fudge series. This book refers to events in previous books, so I am glad we read them in order.
In this book, Fudge loves money. It is pretty hilarious. A lot more goes on, of course--trouble with his bird and some unwelcome visitors.
If you are a homeschooling family, you may want to avoid this, though, because it features a really obnoxious homeschooling family. The dad does not allow sleepovers, candy, and TV. I don't homeschool,...more

I'm not much of a Judy Blume fan on the whole, but I actually thought this one was really funny. You can tell she understands what life with kids is like. And it led to some opportunities to discuss money with my son & to ponder what really makes us happy. I also felt like I had a window to be able to talk to him about how Blume scorns Christians and cultural conservatives in some of her other books because she does it here a bit, too, but it's not so ugly or horrible in this book that I did...more
Another smasher from Judy Blume, this is the continuation of Superfudge and as good, if not more, as the last book. I just love Pete, his family and friends. When I read the book, somehow I feel as if I am living with them, and voyeuristically following their moves and adventures. I read this during a train journey and frightened my co-passengers by laughing out loud, and my husband and son were nonchalantly sitting with an ever tolerant expression on their faces. I do recommend this series for...more
I finally got to see what the buzz was about on the Fudge books, and, of course, they are great. I should have known this because my young friends who like them have good taste, and because Judy Blume has always been so great. It is wonderful that she's still writing contemporary stuff. This book is very funny. She has a great way of describing the fairly normal lives of fairly normal people in a way that is really authentic and seems to me to be true to children's lives and experiences. This is...more
I really liked this book. It is about this little kid named Fudge.
