This was a great biography of David Livingstone. I had no idea that he was the first white man to see and name Victoria Falls in Africa. I think I learned as much geography about Africa as I did about his life. Fascinating life and story of a neat man who risked his life to take the gospel to every unchartered territory in Africa. It was appropriate for my daughters to read. We read it out loud as a family and could not wait until it was time to read together again.

While reading "At the Mercy of the River" recently, the author spent some time talking about David Livingstone and his exploration in Africa. From his perspective, Livingstone was driven to be the first one to press into new territory, possibly at the expense of those traveling with him. I knew the name, but couldn't have told you any association with where he was so I decided it was time to read a biography about him and learn some more.

It is inspiring to read about someone so devoted to spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ. It taught me things about other Christians that I was not aware of. It is suspenseful in places, although I think some of my children had lost interest by the time we finished.
I enjoyed this dramatic account of David Livingstone's life. What it missed largely was his ministry - it leaves me wondering what it was. I will be doing further research to fill in those blanks, whether through another biography or online investigation.
Great book. It's amazing how many people put their life on the line to let others know the beautiful truth of the one and only true king! I am loving this book so far an I'm not even that far into it!
I just finished reading this book aloud to the girls. It was quite good. He was an interesting man!

BORING
Adventure in Africa. A place I will probably never be able to visit, I could experience the wild and travel by reading this book. Fascinating story.
This is my favorite missionary story of all times! What a true pioneer he was in so many ways. If I could have one-tenth of his faith, I'd be thrilled!
