~ZSADIST YOU BROKE MY HEART~
This is an amazing book and my favourite in the series. LOVER AWAKENED tells the agonizingly painful story of Zsadist, a former blood slave and most feared member of the Blackdagger Brotherhood. After Zsadist rescues the beautiful, aristocrat Bella from the Lessoning Society's torture facility she refuses to leave his side (or bed.) Craving the strength and security she now finds only with him More...

I.NEED.TO.BUY.THIS.BOOK. I.NEED.TO.OWN.THIS.BOOK! Oh, my sweet peas and carrots! I lost count on how many times the bottom on my stomach dropped out and sank somewhere down by my feet only to bungee jump right back up and fly straight through the top of my head in sheer delight. Oh yes, this book was dee-licious!

I got married in July 2008 and brought the first two books in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series to keep myself amused on the honeymoon flight. They were cracktastic and More...

Amazing. Do these books keep getting better? I was warned by Mom that I would need some tissues with this one. She was right.
I can't say that Zsadist is my favorite brother. I love his tormented soul. He past to finding his way back from the darkness in his soul to the light was a emotional rollercoaster for me. The amount of abuse he endured was heartbreaking. I definately thought that he had found his "shellan" with Bella, they are so well matched.

"Everyone" has already read this book, so I'm just going to rant a bit...

Zsadist had me intrigued since I read Dark Lover, because he was pretty much an outcast within the Brotherhood and I knew there had to be something "good" inside him. I also knew that his story would be "scary" (for lack of a better word) and, boy, I was not mistaken! I thought Sin MacAllister from Kinley MacGregor's Born in Sin was the most tortured hero in R More...

Jesus, I hated Zsadist before this book. I thought of him as a ruthless killer, and he is. But there is another side of him that is revealed in this book. With Bella, Zsadist's tortured soul is exposed. You see a much darker side of him that is painful and I feel ashamed to say that I am captivated by him. Knowing him, that is the last thing he would want. Zsadist has no patience for those who show sympathy or pity him. And I respect him more for that.

This is one of the more darker b More...

Never do a review like this, but, this is my fans letter to Zsadist , hero of Lover Awakened :D :

Dear Zsadist,

My heart will always broke for you.
You such an arrogant ass! Yes, but you have a reason because of that...
You hurt Bella's feeling! Yes, but you can't help it even you love her...
You think you not deserve her! But hey, who are you to decide like that?
Bella still love you. Its you who fulfill her special needs
And you are father of her More...

Lover Awakened is an amazing story that takes the reader on an emotional roller coaster ride from start to finish. It is, in my opinion, the best of the Black Dagger Brotherhood series so far. I loved the way that the author took a character who was described by his own twin brother as not merely broken, but ruined, and carefully put him back together piece by piece. This was a powerful story of redemption and unselfish love at it's finest. While I ofte More...

5++ stars - Vampire Romance

Lover Awakened is my top favorite in the BDB series. Zsadist is my most beloved brother/warrior and Bella is a darling BDB heroine. The love story between Zsadist and Bella is touching and heart-wrenching. Zsadist is a tortured soul worthy of redemption, and Bella's fight for him and for their love is ultimately what saves them both. I LOVE this book! I'd give it much higher than a 5 star rating if I could! I wish J.R. Ward would give us more of Zsadist and More...

Oh Z, your book is such an emotional rollercoaster. This book starts so many story lines going, Tohr's tradegy, John's tradegy, Rehv's introduction, the beginning of a downward spiral for Phury, V's visions... But through all the other drama happening is Zsadist's transformation, which is beautiful and painful all at once.

Zsadist...

So, I just realized I've never done a review on one of my favorite books ever. I don't know why I skipped this, maybe because I couldn't write anything to do it justice? I'm not sure, what I do know though is that I completely love this book. J.R Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood series is one of the most addictive series for vampire fiction/ urban fantasy / paranormal romance fans. I haven't read a book in this series that I didn't enjoy. I love them all but my favorites are Zsadists story(this o More...

Sometimes the end of a novel is so wonderful and satisfying it makes everything you endured to get there worth it. This is definitely one of those novels. This is Book Three of "The Black Dagger Brotherhood" series, and it tells the story of Zsadist and how he finds his mate, Bella.

Zsadist's past was torturous. After he was rescued he internalized that horror, and it created a painful present. The path to a happy future would be frustrating, painful, and depressing for More...

I want to give this two stars, but I'll be generous.

Honestly, I don't think I could have been any more disappointed with this book. I thought it was actually quite bad.

Characters:

Bella. I don't like her at all. She was whiny and weak and unlikable. She cries a lot, and spends 99% of the book in some weak state, needing to be cared for. She also wishes that she was in love with Phury instead of Zsadist, and that pissed me off beyond belief. There was just noth More...

Zsadist is the benchmark I measure all my tortured heroes against. He is a warrior vampire, who was kidnapped as a baby. He was sold into slavery and spent the first century of his life being used for blood and sex. His twin, Phury, rescued him, but not before irreparable damage was done to his body and mind.

Our book begins with our heroine, Bella, in captivity. She has been kidnapped by a Lesser... a soulless vampire hunter. She reminds him of a woman he once loved and he now thi More...

If I could give this book 10 stars I would in a heartbeat.

This must be my 4th or 5th time reading Zsadist and hand on heart I love it more and more each time.

Zsadist *sigh* I really don't know where to start with this man, he just is my everything, I truly can't begin to tell you how much I love this character, he is just so wonderful.

I guess I like suffering alpha males being redeemed by love. And boy, isn't Zsadist the pinacle of a suffering alpha male?

Zsadist is a member of the Black Dagger Brotherhood, twin of Phury and a former blood slave. His past has left him scarred on the inside and out. The abduction of Bella, the only female who seems to be willing to look beyond his fearsome appearance, stirs something within Zsadist.

I LOVED THIS BOOK. Oh my God, it was so intense. It grabbed me by the th More...

This book is pretty darn awesome. Zsadist is definitely one to seduce a reader if you love tortured, sexy heroes. The only disadvantage is too much Lesser narrative. Otherwise I love it! It is full of passages that wrench at your heart as you read Zsadist's sad but ultimately triumphant story. You really root for Zsadist to accept the unconditional love that Bella has for him, as you see him give all of himself to her because he cannot help but love her, even believing he is far from good enoug More...

Maybe its because I'm a ball-bustin feminist, but I have a particular reading obsession with tortured Alpha heroes redeemed by the Power of Luuurve and Zsadist is pretty much the pinnacle of the theme. I picked up this book not realizing it was a series (or not caring) and then was so enthralled, I ran out and got every BDB available at the time.

I can't say much for the most recent books (Vishous and Phury's) but Lover Awakened is like a drug. It calls to me from my bookshelf and I More...

OMG, OMG, OMG! I'm kind of pissed at J. R. Ward for keeping this story till the third book but its a good kind of pissed (If there's something like that). I have to say it was worth it. The evolution of Zsadist was so spectacular that I'm completely overwhelmed. This book was on hell of an emotional ride. I found it so hard to keep myself from crying. LOVER AWAKENED was such a beautiful story that I don't even have words to express how much I loved this book. I was quite surprised to have liked it as much as I did. For the first two books in the series I wasn't completely into it and never thought I would really get into a book in this series, but I'm finally sold on the Black Dagger Brotherhood Series. It took Zsadist's book for me to see the light.

The kidnapping of a civilian male vampire was bad enough, but when the Brotherhood found out that one of their females, one that had been in their home, had been taken… nothing was going to stop them from finding her. Even after several weeks, Zsadist was still just as obsessed with avenging Bella as he was the moment heard she was missing. Once he knew she was safe from the Lessening Society, he knew that he had to keep her safe from himself. She needed to be safe and clean and with someone More...

I think I finally realised what my problem is with JR Ward. I really liked the story she wants to tell. In this one for instance Zsadist has been physically and sexually abused, treated like a slave and Bella tries to heal him with her love.

A former blood slave, the vampire Zsadist still bears the scars from a past filled with suffering and humiliation. Renowned for his unquenchable fury and sinister deeds, he is a savage feared by humans and vampires alike. Anger is his only compani More...

Zsadist´s and Bella´s story. Third in the series.
When Zsadist rescues Bella from the clutches of the lesser Mr. O who thinks about Bella as his wife (his obsession was really scary) his fate is sealed. If he likes it or not he has found his life mate in Bella and even a bad-ass vampire of the Black Dagger Brotherhood doesn´t stand a chance against a determined woman. But – this story wasn´t as lighthearted as it may sound. Both had many obstacles to overcome, especially Zsadist whose past More...

even from the first installment, Dark Lover, Zsadist's character was shrouded in darkness and even a hint of menace. there were times that i thought to myself, how can the other brothers stand him? why is he even in the brotherhood? he's so dangerous, especially to the women (and not in a sexy-dangerous way, but in an assassin-lethal kind of way, mind).

then by the near-end of Lover Eternal, Z's persona comes into a new light. he was still dangerous and would punch anyone who pisses More...

I can't get in to these BDB books. I think the author tries to hard to be "cool." The slang and music in her books feels forced, like she has no real understanding of what a fan of rap music would listen to so she just name-drops the popular 50-Cent. It's like listening to someone's mother trying to relate to her teenage son.

Everything in these books is too much the same. Same enemies, same settings. It is getting boring.

This one was the story of Z overcomming More...
