The story of Butch, the Warrior.

Butch is a human ex-cop who got thrown off the force for being overly aggressive with a suspect one-too-many-times back in book one. He gets adopted by the brotherhood, despite his human status, and falls in love with Wrath’s ex-wife, the virgin vampire Marissa. Marissa is thrown out of aristocratic vampire society and vows to live life on her own terms from now on, which gives her the freedom of loving the blue-collar human. Butch has always been an outside...more

Do these books keep getting better??? Oh my gosh! I started this book last night and finished it at 3 a.m.!! I didn't know if I would like Butch and Marissa's story...I always thought Butch was interesting, but I wasn't sure if Marissa deserved him...okay so I was wrong.
Admittedly, there were times I wanted to strangle both of them. They want to protect one another so much that they pushed each other away and it drove me crazy! But, with Butch's very humble beginnings and tortured past, it...more

When I finished Dark Lover, I ran out and bought the next four books in the series. It was just that good. When I finished Lover Eternal, I started Lover Awakened the same night. When I finished Lover Awakened, I picked up Lover Revealed. I read the first thirty pages. Then I put it down for about a month. It's not that Lover Revealed wasn't good. It was. When I finally gave it a chance, I really enjoyed it. It was Butch. I mean, he wasn't REALLY a member of the Brotherhood. So why should I care...more

Lover Revealed is the fourth book in The Black Dagger Brotherhood series. Butch O'Neal is a human former cop that became tangled up with the Brotherhood in the first book, trying to protect his friend Beth. Butch now lives in
the twilight world of the vampires, best-friend of the enigmatic Vishous and painfully in love with the etheral Marissa, a sad aristoricat vampire. This is the best book of the series (so far), a delicate dance through the
complicated emotions of these thre...more

*sigh* It looks like so many other people really liked this book. I'm on the fence about it. The story between Butch and Marissa was beautiful, truly star-crossed lovers. However, the "deus ex machina" endings with the Scribe Virgin and her brother (wtf?) the Omega are getting old. Are the vampires so completely incapable of getting out of situations that the SV has to drop in at the end of every book and fix things? I'm hoping it's going to lead to more backstory about the histo...more

This book was a long awaited one, as all of us Ward fans were wondering just what exactly was going to happen to our favorite mortal, Butch.

Butch finds himself in the middle of the Black Dagger Brotherhood in the very first book in the series, and quickly becomes a character we all love to love. From the beginning of this series, I needed to hear Butch's story, and Ward does not disappoint.

After reading Zsadist's story (book 3), Butch's story is a bit lighter; don't get me wrong, there ...more

Another great book from Ward. No, not great--fantastic, and INSANELY absorbing. I read all 600 or so pages in 1 sitting, with occasional snack breaks. The BDB is the best series I've come across in a very long time. This book was as good as its three predecessors, with some big surprises. Marissa, the heroine, was one of those pleasant surprises. I wasn't very interested in her and didn't expect much from her as a lead character, but she was way more interesting than the previous books let...more

'UNPUTDOWNABLE' !!! I can't get over this series! Ward knows how to write them, and she's turning into one of the best. Each character is unique, their own personalities, flaws and all, makes them appear incredibly real (even for vampires). The words Ward uses to describe each character works on so many levels; you can feel their happiness, their pain, their envy, their sadness, their fear, their worries... everything, even the love and friendships they share. Fighting scenes make you hold your ...more

If there is anyone out there who has not read this Black Dagger Brotherhood series, you need to buy it tomorrow and read it. This series is awesome. I hate to finish reading each book.

Lover Revealed is book #4 in the series. I couldn’t wait to get to this book because it’s Butch’s story. He was introduced in the 1st book Dark Lover and he is my favorite character. Thank God there was a happy ending to Marissa’s and his story. The synopsis left me wondering. As I read on into the seri...more

This is Book 4 of "The Black Dagger Brotherhood," and all I can say is it is AWESOME! This one is about Butch and how he finally gets together with Marissa. There are so many wonderful surprises in this novel (for those who have been reading the series from Book 1) that I can't say much about it without giving them away. So, no spoilers in this review (grin)!

However, I can say this is one of the best novels in this series IMO. Everything about it is incredibly entertaining (the...more

Lover Revealed is the fourth book in this series by J.R. Ward. While not giving us much information on the history of the vampires, she makes up for it with the current happenings of this group. I thought it was a great read, which I read in one sitting (6 hours!!). I also liked that Ward followed a character introduced in previous books. John, a vampire adolescent, is struggling with the loss of his vampire foster family, and is looking forward to the upcoming changes that his transition will b...more

Book 3. Not as good as the previous books.. mostly becuase I'm not crazy about the way too stereotypical (oh, I'm so virginal) heroine... BUT.. the subtext between two of the main male characters is go good that perhaps it colored my view of the heroine. (Well, Ok, not really she really was a one note) But her flatness of character was really noticable among the honestly smouldering chemestry between two of the male protagonists.

Sad she doesn't allow fanfic.. because.. wow.. I could read V/B...more

I have to say I'm a little disappointed in this series. It was recommended to me by a friend who has very similar reading interest. I feel like J.R. Ward is trying to hard. The glamour, high fashion and toughness of the Brotherhood and their women just seem a little overdone and disingenuous to me. The plots lag. I have one more of this series in my TBR pile but I don't think I'm looking for anything else from this author and I don't think I could recommend her.

Honestly I wasn't looking forward to this book much because Butch didn't seem that interesting in the other books. It's still not a book to skip, you learn more able all the characters. These books not only show you what is happening between the two "main" characters it also tells you what's going on with all the brothers. It's great for someone like me who wants to know what happens to her character after the book is over

The fourth book in this series is the story of Butch, the only human companion of the Black Dagger Brotherhood. Butch is in love with Marissa, a vampire aristocrat. When Butch is captured by the lessers, his friends in the brotherhood will do anything to rescue him. But will he come back the same? These novels are always interesting, and Ward goes place that most romance novelists don't. This is a very good read.

I continue to love this series. This one focuses on the human, Butch O'Neal, and his attraction to the vampire Marissa. Ward manages to keep the focus on Butch and Marissa, but also continues the subplots from previous stories. I usually get bored with a series after the first couple, but I'm as engrossed with this world now as I was after the first book.

I read this when it came out and it was not one of my favorites. The main character, Butch, was funny in the preceding books, but he was not funny here. It was sad and depressing. I didn't care for Marissa's character, either. I thought she needed to get her act together quicker and as old as she is/was she should have been more...mature.

Not a favorites, but worth reading in this series.

This was another great addition to the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. It tells the story of Butch, a fired cop who falls in with the Brothers.

I wasn't sure if I would like Butch's story (as he's human, not a vamp), but I really did. I think this is my second favorite book in the series, after Zsadist's story (Lover Awakened).

As Marissa would say, it was phearsom.

It's funny how eagerly I awaited each story as it came, but I was definitely surprised that Butch was going to have a story. However, Ward gives enough clues, even in the stories before, for you to figure out what's what before the rest of the Brotherhood does. Once again, this book was highly amusing and the author just hit the nail on the head.
