Considering how late to the BDB party I am, I'm not going to write a review on this book. This is just a "collection of my random thoughts" so I can keep the story straight in my mind, and therefore it's bound to be full of spoilers. If you haven't read this book yet and don't like being spoiled, stop reading this "review" now. I'm not kidding!

Okay, here I go...

When I finished Lover Awakened, the previous book in the series, I didn't feel much compelle More...

Lover Revealed was a decent book. It doesn't have the intensity Lover Awakened had, but afterall: Butch isn't Zsadist.
Don't get me wrong: I love Butch. And I liked Marissa. And I luuuved Butch and V. Actually I was wishing for a Marissa/Butch/Vishous menage but alas :(
Still: enjoyed it. A lot. 4 stars.

Reviewed for www.thcreviews.com

After meeting Butch and Marissa in Dark Lover, the first book in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series, I was intrigued by the characters and looking forward to reading their story. Unfortunately, I found it a bit difficult to become emotionally invested in the ups and downs of their relationship as presented in Lover Revealed. I think this may have been the result of a few different things. First, Butch and Marissa spent very little time together during More...

I LOVE Butch! He's one of my favourite Brothers, along with Rhage and V. Especially, when they are all together and joking around. Even as a human, this dude can kick some serious ass. He's such a tough guy, known as the hard-ass for a reason. But there is also this charming, sweet side to him as well. Butch definitely has what it takes to run with the vampires!

I loved Marissa as well. I felt so bad for her in Dark Lover. She is so innocent and pure, yet all these terrible things More...

Do these books keep getting better??? Oh my gosh! I started this book last night and finished it at 3 a.m.!! I didn't know if I would like Butch and Marissa's story...I always thought Butch was interesting, but I wasn't sure if Marissa deserved him...okay so I was wrong.
Admittedly, there were times I wanted to strangle both of them. They want to protect one another so much that they pushed each other away and it drove me crazy! But, with Butch's very humble beginnings and tortured past More...

I enjoyed this story. What I like about this one is how everyone is going through such major life changes, and that they’re not always sure they’re doing the right thing, but they keep on trying. The transformation of Butch was very powerful writing.

Now, Marissa. This series is full of black leather to go with the black daggers, and we have some she-men as the series goes on. So I get that not everyone can relate to Marissa. But you know what? Her evolution is stronger than any other More...

10/19/09- I thought I really liked Lover Awakened, but then I don't know how to express how much more I loved Lover Revealed. I really like the story of Butch and more than his HEA with Marissa I loved his delicate relationship with V. I can't wait to read more about Vishous in the next book.

If I had a complaint about this series I would say, you meet and get to know even if a little all the characters in the first book, and it seems after you get their story, they disappear a litt More...

Honestly, I wasn’t expecting to like this book. At all. Because I'm a nit-picky beyotch and I had a feeling about this one, but also because “Butch” has always annoyed the crap out of me. I hate nicknames like Butch. Same with Chief, Sport, Bud, etc., ugh! But worst of all, he’s a complete poser who spent all of his first months with the Brotherhood engaged in an act of blatant willful blindness that bothered me sooo much because it felt like entitlement’s cousin and I can’t stand entitleme More...

Just finished re-reading Butch, I really enjoyed this book again, even better this time as I wasn't pinning so much for Zsadist. I loved the dialogue between V & Butch and one of my favourite parts was when Zsadist was chasing Bella - when he lept off the balcony and materialised beside Bella was totally hot - you could feel the sexual tension coming through.

I'm now just hoping I have enough time to re-read V & Rhev before Lover Mine arrives - I'm going to give Phury a miss.

5 stars - Vampire Romance

The best part of this book is the close relationship and unexpected, deep bond that is forged between warriors/brothers Butch and Vishous, not the contrived love story between Butch and Marissa. Although I didn't like it quite as much as the previous books in the series, it's still an awesome read. The BDB series is the best in vampire romance!

Wow....... I loved Lover Revealed J.R Ward has completely sucked me into the Black Dagger Brotherhood series with no way of me getting out..
Marissa and Butch story was amazing I loved the way Butch was always so true to his feelings for Marissa and even though he felt unworthy of her he wanted to make himself better for her. I love how Marissa grows so much in this book she really becomes a stronger being in this book. But what outright did it for me was the bond between Butch and Vishous More...

I read this for the first time in two years and I have to honestly say I didn't give Butch a fair shake on the fist go around. I've reread Rhage's and Zsadists books many times but this was Butch's first re-read.

I think this is mainly because this first time I read this I had finished Lover Awakened a few days ago. If that book is in not the best paranormal romance written it is definitely in the top five. The emotional intensity is a hard act to follow to say the least and I was com More...

This is Butch's story. Butch is a human cop who has befriended the Vamp brothers in Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood series.

The story starts off with Butch being caught by the Big Lesser, the bad guys in the series, who places a part of himself in Butch to catch the brothers- turning him into a Trojan horse as it were. (The way the Big O does it I found to be idiotic, but whatever).

Of course the scheme doesn't work because the brother who has the other half of Butch's soon More...

I loved this book from page one. Butch resonated with me because he was so tortured. He was just as tortured as Zsadist but in different way. He got abused by his father and his mother ignored him. And his siblings pretty much followed their example and disowned Butch when his sister died. He felt like he was worth nothing and had nothing to live for. He was abusing himself and slowly killing himself day by day because his family had basically rejected him. That's why I love that he found T More...

*sigh* It looks like so many other people really liked this book. I'm on the fence about it. The story between Butch and Marissa was beautiful, truly star-crossed lovers. However, the "deus ex machina" endings with the Scribe Virgin and her brother (wtf?) the Omega are getting old. Are the vampires so completely incapable of getting out of situations that the SV has to drop in at the end of every book and fix things? I'm hoping it's going to lead to more backstory about the histo More...

I liked Butch! There, I said it!! I even developed some respect for Marissa, except she sure did a lot of vacillating. The author gave out so many hints about Butch's destiny that even this blind person could see it, but that was part of the charm in it for me. My only disappointment was about the Fore-Lesser; for some reason, I really wanted him to be able to escape Omega - oh, well!

This is Book 4 of "The Black Dagger Brotherhood," and all I can say is it is AWESOME! This one is about Butch and how he finally gets together with Marissa. There are so many wonderful surprises in this novel (for those who have been reading the series from Book 1) that I can't say much about it without giving them away. So, no spoilers in this review (grin)!

However, I can say this is one of the best novels in this series IMO. Everything about it is incredibly entertain More...

Butch! Butch and my boy V. Fantastic... Loved Cop's story. It contained the perfect amount of humor and sorrow, frustration and satisfaction, heaven and hell. Well rounded...great story line. Progression of the Brotherhood is well rounded with it's newest member and his special set of skills. Butch and Marissa. Butch and Vishous. Loved it!

For some reason Ward ratcheted up the profanity in this installment to the point that it became distracting and took away from the story. Other than that, Butch's story is a favorite so far.

Butch is my absolute favorite character in this series as has been from the beginning. This 40ish homicide cop is charming, whitty, loyal and quite sexy. Pushed into the Brotherhood's world in book 1 because of his friendship with Beth, he gives up his life in the human world and takes up residency with the brotherhood. This is because he had too many long term memories of the vampires to be erased and because V had a vision that included Butch.

From the very beginning, he's wanted More...

Lover Revealed, or Butch's story, was an amazing read about lovers denial, questioning and acceptance.
I wasn't to sure about this one because Butch is a human an not a Brother. But Ward just showed that it didn't matter, that it was still gonna be amazing no matter who it was. Though I'm glad it was Butch for this adventure on Love. It was more than perfect for him and showed he wasn't just some crazy stalker with a huge obsession with a beautiful female vampire.
The story was action More...

Well this series is still going strong for me, I LOVED this book.

Butch (H) is a human living with the Black Dagger Brotherhood. His best friends and only "family" that he has is vampires. How ever he's starting to feel the strain of not really belonging in either world, human or vampire. And the woman he loves, Marissa (h), he can't really take care of all her "needs"...he can't feed her. The thought of another male feeding her tears him up inside. Just when thing More...

Wow was this story interesting. I mean I got a better understanding of the Lessening Society in this novel.

Butch is a fighter by nature and HUMAN. And his in love with a aristocratic vampire, Marissa. And his got himself in deep shit, he tried to rescue a vampire being taken by a lesser BUT instead got himself taken by the lesser and got tortured by them. And the Omega has put something evil inside his body.

Marissa she's a princep and the ex-shellan of Wrath (The Blind K More...

I liked this one too, I didn't give it a 5 because there were loose ends. I know Butch and Marissa would reappear in the next BDB books but I felt like they still have unresolved issues, I was expecting a major heart-to-heart talk, sort of character redemption but I guess that's another page of dialogue so let's get on with the program.

Despite that negative paragraph, there were a lot of remarkable things I loved in the story.

First, the characters. Their developments were rea More...

So, I cannot lie and say that Butch is my favorite. But I can say that I love him now and I found his story quite enthralling.

His relationship with Vishous was (at points) more intense and erotic than his relationship with Marissa.

The twist was wonderful and I found myself hoping that he could finally belong completely to their family.

Also...cocks as big as your wrist are never a bad thing. UNF.

As always...JR Ward left me equally wanting and fulfilled a More...

Another great book from Ward. No, not great--fantastic, and INSANELY absorbing. I read all 600 or so pages in 1 sitting, with occasional snack breaks. The BDB is the best series I've come across in a very long time. This book was as good as its three predecessors, with some big surprises. Marissa, the heroine, was one of those pleasant surprises. I wasn't very interested in her and didn't expect much from her as a lead character, but she was way more interesting than the previous books let More...
