Nancy loves fancy things, fancy words, and fancy....everything! But, alas (that is a fancy word for too bad), her family isn't so fancy. Nancy has a brilliant idea! She decides to give her family 'fancy lessons'. Her family complies and quickly they take on the fanciness that Nancy so dearly craves. A catastrophe happens when they arrive at The King's Crown Restaurant. Her family rallies around her and shows her that above all they love her, no matter what happens. Nancy knows that she has the ...more

So great! i first was introduced to F.N. on Martha Stewart. Now I love her! The author is great and gets little girls to read, so cute! And they all dress up, too bad their Mothers have Stepford Wife disease....ugh! But every time I want to just slack off and dress down I think, "Fancy Nancy!" is that so wrong?
But sending them to my cousin Abby! And she loves them! But when it comes to meeting the author, requiring standing in a LONG line, she says "No, [I dont want to wai...more

I really like Fancy Nancy, which I am sure I have stated previously. Nancy shows that it is fine to be who you are. The books also helps children with their vocabulary by defining words that they may not know. This has always been my philosopy with my wee beastie; I just speak with her as I normally speak and tell her what words mean that she asks about. The result has been that she has a wonderful vocabulary for her age, according to her teachers :).

I LOVED this book! I was at the library with my two sons and HAD to get it. Obviously I had no excuse to get it for my daughter, as I don't have one! So it truly was an indulgence for me to read a girlie book. Especially because I am a girlie girl. :) The pictures are darling and the story is so cute. I could look at the pictures for hours. I am excited to read others Fancy Nancy books. Very cute!!

This book is AMAZING for teaching children about "word choice." You can call them "spicy" words, "wow" words, "better" words, or "fancy" words. Little girls especially love this story. The illustrations are also MARVELOUS. It looks sparkly and frilly on the outside, but you can use this book to teach a whole class (including boys) about "fancy" words and how fun they can be.

Now that I have a daughter I appreciate the need to be fancy. I am a parent, just like fancy nancy's, boring and wear lots of jeans and t-shirts. My daughter is a nancy. I can't believe how much pink and purple is in her wardrobe.
My son loves this book too. I guess it is just the great storytelling that draws them in, and of course, the fabulous illustrations.

Nancy likes to be fancy. She likes to eat Parfaits... which is a fancy word for ice cream. She even teaches her parents how to be fancy. :)
I really like this series so far. What I find refreshing is the involvement of parents in a positive way. They are supportive, they interact with Nancy and support her even when her "Fancy" ways sometimes faulter.

I love this book! Nancy is my new favorite little girl in children's books ... after Eloise! Everything about it is great! The artwork is fun ... full of little details. The writing is fun too ... short and sweat, but descriptive & fully expressed. I recommend it for every little girl ... and every big girl who is a little girl at heart!

I read this book to my friend's daughter Abbey the other day and fell in love with Nancy and her not so fancy family. It is an adorable book with a good message and great illustrations. Of course you also have the added bonus that they have lots of fun "fancy" words for children to use. Abbey calls everything "oooh fancy" now.

I just learned about this series at the library. I *love* the vocabulary in the book -- teaching fun words like "plume...that's a fancy word for feather." I'm not sure I like the super frilly obsession of the main character, but her yen for fanciness at least gives my 3-year old the opportunity to learn big people words.

Had to add Fancy Nancy to my books. We read it EVERY night (it's my daughter’s favorite) and still it tickles me. We've even incorporated a Fancy Nancy evening to our repertoire. The best part of the evening is the yummy fancied up ice-cream heaps we devour, for the sake of authenticity, of course.

This has got to be the most darling children's book. It's hilarious. All about cute little Nancy giving her family "fancy lessons." The illustrations are fabulous. You've got to read it. "Fancy Nancy and the Posh Puppy" is good too, especially when she blow dries the dog's hair. I laughed out loud.

I never read picture books (probably because I'm not 4-8 years old?) but a friend showed me this book in the store and it's adorable. Highly recommended gift for little kiddos. Plus a really good reminder that there are small children who have more individualism than some adults we know ;)

I loved this book and have decided to use it for Grandparents Camp this year. We will have our 3 (potty-trained) grandkids for a week and one day we will read this book and then get all fancied up and go out to dinner. I love Fancy Nancy, it is the little girl in all of us!

my daughter absolutely loves this book! it appeals to her innate desire to play dress up and the book is wonderfully illustrated. this is one book i don't mind reading repeatedly. (although i did request another book after we read it this evening for the 3rd time today!)

We received this book for Christmas for my 3yo daughter and I fell in love with it. The illustrations are phenomenal and the story is engaging. But the added bonus is that the story is riddled with synonyms - a great way for kids to start learning pieces of prose.

These Fancy Nancy books annoy me because they are all about old-timey fancy manners, dressing up and playing important princessy girl. I suppose I should marvel at the clever rhyming skills of the author, but I dislike the art and content so much, why bother?

This book very sweet. I worried that the main character might come off a little snotty, the way Olivia can (although, I like the Olivia books), but she wasn't obnoxious at all. Maura loved this book, as she is completely into this "fancy" stage herself!

This is a great 3-7 year old book. An adorable story about a little girl who likes everything "fancy." She tries to teach her plain family to be more fancy and learns that some things are great just the way they are. Super cute illustrations too.

I love Fancy Nancy in a whole new way after hosting the delightful illustrator Robin Glasser at my library. We had a great Fancy Nancy party with 350 sparkling exquisite guests. This vocabulary building character is here to stay! Fabulous!
