I have read many, many books on witchcraft and always felt lacked depth and real meaning. I am a deep thinker and seek meaning behind the meaning. The Inner Temple of Witchcraft has got to be the best book on the basics of witchcraft that I have ever read.

I saw Christopher Penczak last year in October at Celebrate Samhain in Peterborough, NH. I listened to him give a talk about a book he had just published, "The Three Rays of Witchcraft" and I thought: This guy is going to change my life.
And so far, he has.
I've been to four rituals that his group, The Temple of Witchcraft, has put on in Salem, NH, I've become an honorary member and now I have become a student as I am taking Witchcraft I with his High Priestess....more

This is my absolute favourite book. Fiction, non-fiction, religious or not, it is the best I have ever read and I go back to it all the time.
The format for me worked wonderfully; I NEED a structured, timed lesson guide for me to have a consistent practice. This book literally changed the way I practice my spirituality.

What's missing from Occult and Magickal writing? A solid foundation.
The Inner Temple of Witchcraft is well thought, written, and applied. If one were to take the lessons, commit to the year and a day, and work with the lessons here that all point inward, the magickal thing that occurs is the "Inner Temple."
This is one of the real leaping points into the magickal and mystical experiences.

I ordered the entire Temple of Witchcraft series at once - and, of course, I picked up this one first to start at the beginning.
As a practitioner for over eleven years, I was pleased that Penczak addresses the core building blocks of the magickal path and lifestyle - one key area of focus being meditation.
However, my only real criticism is that the book is possibly 'too' basic - almost every other 'Wicca 101' book that I have read presents more 'hands-on' work than does...more

Penczak, regardless of how scholarly he is as a human being, has a style of writing that allows everyone from the complete novice to the adept to grasp his theories and concepts so that the reader may incorporate his teachings into their practice. I highly recommend his Temple series -- along with his companion meditation CDs by the same names. They will, literally, open up new worlds for the reader.

This book is great! It explains things very well beginning with a brief review of Wicca history followed by 13 lesson/chapters which includes exercises. It is, essentially a Wicca text book. This book is exactly what I have wished for in the past 20 years on my pagan path!
Christopher Penczak is amazing author, this book is well written and well worth the buy. I highly suggest it to those who are wanting to know more about Wicca/ Witchcraft. Even those who have practiced the path of the witch should enjoy this read.
A great beginner book as paganism books goes. Practical exercises unburdened by complicated ritual or dogma. A firm base to build more complex practices on.
This is a great book for the beginner. Chris explores paganism and witchcraft 101 and there are also exercises to help you on your journey.
I thought this was a pretty nice book as "wicca 101" kind of books go. The strong focus on the mental aspects of witchcraft was somewhat different from the mass of other books available. There wasn't anything more "fluffy" about this volume than most others. If you are new to the craft and want a decent intro to meditation and other methods of self development, then you could do worse than read this. However, you could probably get almost as much out of any number of book...more
I found this series to be probably the most helpful and informative ones I have read. Something about the way he writes is perfect for explaining the concepts to me in a way I can really grasp and relate to. I think these books a are great
I tried for a long time to stay away from his books, but finally I gave in and they are worth the amazon price (or better yet a used copy). As determined as I was to never read his stuff, a lot of his basic beliefs are quite similar to my own; the dimond of divinity, the eightfold path, etc...
Lots of good meditation work.
Lots of good meditation work.
This is quite literally the WORST bunch of "fluff witchcraft" it has ever been my misfortune to read. If it wasn't against every fiber of my being to burn books this would have been blazing with my last cigarette!
The 1 word to best discribe my reaction to this book and still remain family friendly...."CRAP!"

A great in-depth beginner's guide to getting in touch with your own innate inner power and psychic skills. I enjoyed the reading, as the author is both practical and spiritually grounded. Plus, he's a really nice guy in life, as I was lucky enough to meet him and take his workshop!
It's really helping me learn how to explore my psychic abilities. I have been doing the mental exercise and I've really impressed myself with the meditations that I can do so far.
I read most of this book and really thought there was a lot of good info. I'll have to get it from the library again to finish it.
A very good introduction for people new to the craft. Owes a strong debt to Laurie Cabot.
A great overview of the utilization of the inner world.
