This makes a breezy but interesting read between the heavier tomes.
And it is so informative.
I especially like the fact that he mentions people who generally NEVER make it into the pages of the majority of history books AND facts too!
eg.Agnes Ellyot of Sussex who went to a water pit at 4am on a winter morning and fell in.Young girls drowned in wells and ponds while fetching water, making death by drowning the largest cause of death for women of the Elizabethan era and into the 1700's.In the Midd

Even though I'm about 4-6 years above it's target audience, the Horrible Histories books are still pretty great for a quick, funny and actually educational read. Also I love England to pieces so this was even better.
The books and the show are quite probably the reasons I didn't fail Modern or Ancient History at school.
Excellent mix of historical fact and entertainment, with the horrible bits left in!

Horrible Histories is a series of illustrated books published in the UK by Scholastic. They are designed to get children interested in history by concentrating on the trivial, unusual, gory, or unpleasant. They are exceptionally well loved by my history loving children
Interesting and short read on the more gruesome (but not too gruesome) parts of English history. These are written for kids and there are several in the series, that include Vikings, etc.. I plan on getting more.
Great if you want to find out more about England's (bloody) history. Filled with examples and therefore accessible to anyone who has a slight interest in history. Informative in a very informal way.
