My new summer pastime is reading the books about African countries which neighbor the Sahara Desert in the blazing sun or in a really hot car. I've learned quite a bit and maybe also gotten a tan. As David promised, Algeria has a really interesting history, including Barbary Coast pirates, French colonialist pirates, and modern Islamic Extremist pirates. Maybe those last two are not official pirates, but they have or are looting land, lives, and culture.

Didn't care for the maps that were included, would have liked one with more detail. In depth information on history and how it has affected the country long-term. I did like the timeline and other sections at the end of the book, they held lots of information.
