This book was published in English translation in 1907, by a London publisher with offices in New York, Bombay and Calcutta. It was written as a justification of Japanese colonialism in Taiwan and was translated by an Englishman, and as such it contains innumerable totally bananas sentences about the "great and glorious work" of colonization, and Japan's eagerness to submit "proof of her worthiness to be admitted into the community of the world's great colonial powers."
