Sandy-haired and wiry at six feet tall, Napoletano seemed to attract tragedy. In 1984 his fifteen-year-old girlfriend was found dumped in Pennsylvania with her throat slashed. In 1985 his mother-in-law was shot dead on a Bronx street corner. And in 1990 his second wife, missing from their New Jersey home, was discovered crudely buried in Delaware. A rising mound of evidenc ...more

I have 12 books waiting to be reviewed from the past two months so I'm beginning to forget little things I wanted to say while reading. Luckily for me I made some notes with this one so I can go from there.
I *think* I've read Pienciak before, maybe once, but I can't remember and it didn't occur to me to look at his page.
This is another t.c. story that will twist your stomach and mind. One thought kept rolling through my head while reading this and that was this - 'Why are women, so many differen

This story was shocking and so frustrating to read... not because it wasn't written well but because of the things this animal and his sick mother got away with for so long. It's shocking that his mother was able to keep her job at the police department even after she had been caught doing things that were illegal and unethical. It's mind boggling. Also mind boggling is the mother's as ...more

I have read a lot of true crime books in my time but this little known tale of a serial killer and his mother really stands out mainly because it is so unbelievable. Gore hounds lusting for a high body count will be dissapointed because although the crimes are horrific the central theme of this book concerns mother and son and their manipulation of the police to evade capture for years.
Although the book is brilliantly constructed like all journalists the author tends to spend the majority of th

This book was about the murder of my mother's cousin, Myra Acevedo. It was surreal to me to be reading about her family and mine. The author offers more insight into the case than I had been told when I was small. Perhaps too much, the details of how she was murdered and found were disturbing, considering she was family. In the beginning, it was hard to keep reading due to so many details being given in a few number of pages. But past that, the author does a fine job detailing the events prior t ...more
