Love is always just around the corner in a Jill Mansell novel - with a few surprises and a lot of humour on the way to happiness

It's not that Janey Sinclair isn't pleased to see her sister. It's just that being woken at seven by Maxine, complete with police escort, isn't quite how she'd planned to spend her Sunday. Even so Janey, who's just rebuilding her life after her hu

This was my first Jill Mansell book. It was quite a fun read set in Cornwall. I got a bit bored halfway through but then it picked up and got better. An enjoyable read.

I was wanting a nice, easy escapism read and this fit the bill nicely! I've been super busy the past couple of weeks with being a camp nurse and then having out of state company so I haven't been able to read much AT ALL (which was horrible-lol). I needed something to keep my attention but not be too heavy. I love Jill Mansell books for exactly that! Most of her books are quite good (there a few notable exceptions). I enjoyed this one about a lovely girl who thinks she's not because of some lout ...more

Estou completamente rendida a Jill Mansell.

This book was a disappointment and not up to par with her other books. I initially chose to read this book because I wanted a little escapism, something quick and sweet to read in between other books, and I thought Jill Mansell is definitely the right choice.

Boy, was I wrong. This book was absolutely ridiculous. I mean, yes, granted, it's a chick-lit, so certain expectations go with that genre. There will always be a happy ending, it will always be cheesy and romantic, it will include the jerk,

There are lots of things I liked about this book. I liked the main character and her relationship with her sister, as well as with the main male. I liked that the author tried to give the story some depth.

The problem is the key word is tried. The book needed a really good editor. Someone needed to tell Mansell she wasn't developing her plot and characters so much as plodding along and making the story drag. And the thing is, the extra time wasn't worth it at all. It isn't as though there were an

In ‘Sheer Mischief’, diffident Janey’s dreary life changes dramatically with the unexpected arrival of her beautiful, unpredictable sister Maxine. When Maxine finds out that handsome photographer Guy is looking for a nanny to take care of his two children, she instantly applies for the job. Meanwhile, Janey is still struggling to come to terms with her husband Alan’s mysterious disappearance which happened two years ago. A light fun read full of mistakes, missed opportunities,
right and wrong love, old love, new love, sisterly love, parental love. I love the way Jill Mansell sets up stories. This starts with a woman whose husband disappeared 2 years ago. Is he dead? Alive? You can probably guess what's going to happen, but it doesn't spoil the enjoyment of the story. We're given lots of interesting characters but I'd have liked more to happen between the main two!

Early on in reading the book, I was giving this two stars, or perhaps two point five. I could not stand Maxime - spoilt, self-centred, selfish and inconsiderate, taking a loan of her sister, Janie's good nature. At 500 pages long, I wondered how the story line could be spun out, and I came close to not bothering much beyond page 100. But I slowly started to warm to Maxine as she had moments of introspection when she began to assess her own life style. This was a typical escapist, easy read in th ...more

So I read this book a few days ago and I'm still disappointed about the ending lol. From the start I thought Guy would definitely end up with Maxine. but Janey? I expected Janey's husband to turn up with a very soun reason for disappearing like been abducted, and then happily ever after. Instead he turned out to be disappointing. I also ddnt expect Oliver to die, or atleast not before he reunited with guy. Am still glad for Janey and Guy's happily ever after, she deserved it after all the pain s ...more

Janey is slowly rebuilding her life after the disappearance of her husband. One day her sister Maxine re-enters her life and sets her sights on a photographer, Guy. As Janey knows wherever her sister is mischief soon follows. Follow Janey, Maxine and friends whilst they traverse their romantic relationships in Cornwall.

Being an avid reader of Mansell’s latest books I wanted to go back to the beginning and read them. ‘Sheer Mischief’ follows the same formula that Mansell has and is a sheer deligh

Quem nunca leu,aconselho vivamente.

The first Jill Mansell book I read was Perfect Timing which I absolutely adored. And not merely for it being a fascinating read but also because it was unpredictable and caught me by surprise, which is more than you can say for most chick-lit books. So naturally when I came across this book, it would be safe to say I was thrilled.

'Sheer Mischief' is a engrossing, charming and witty read as it tells the story of two sisters, as similar as cheese and chalk, a ridiculously handsome photographer wi

I believe you’ll always have a book of your favorite authors that you like a little less than others. Sheer Mischief is that book for me. I bought it a couple of years ago and reached page fifty when I stopped reading. It was bothering me a little that I left it unread, so I’ve finally picked it up again.

The summary refers to Maxine as the main character and the first hundred pages she is, but then her sister Janey takes over. I’d rather read about the profligate sister than the boring one. Half

Jill Mansell lives with her partner and children in Bristol, and writes full time. Actually that’s not true; she watches TV, eats fruit gums, admires the rugby players training in the sports field behind her house, and spends hours on the internet marvelling at how many other writers have blogs. Only when she’s completely run out of displacement activities does she write.
