As a teenager, Maddy Harvey was a bit of an ugly duckling, but thankfully she’s blossomed since then. But when she meets Kerr McKinnon one summer’s night and discovers, days later, who he really is, that’s when the real problems start. Because everyone in Ashcombe knows what happened11 years ago, and as far as her mother Marcella is concerned, she would rather tear that fa ...more

I didn't like this book as much as I thought I would. It was supposed to be about a couple that fall in love despite their family's hatred of eachother. But it didn't focus enough on them, it had a lot about everyone else in the town which reminded me of a soap opera. I need a book that really pulls me in and makes me want to keep reading, this book didn't do that. Over all I really wouldn't recommend it, was just an okay book.
If this was the first Jill Mansell novel I'd ever read, it would also be the last. It will be the last one for I while I can tell you that right now. What I love about a Jill Mansell novel is her ability to make me laugh and fall in love with the main squeeze along with the main character. However, I found most of the characters in this novel very vanilla flavoured, been done before and 2D. I wasn't entranced, I finished it because I couldn't stand not to, but that was the only reason. I didn't ...more

I did not like this book at all. Not for a Mansell anyway. If it were written by anyone else, I might have given it more stars, but for Jill Mansell, it was just severely disappointing.

This is my third book for Mansell, and I was over the moon about the first two books I read for her, and thought I would be about this one too - as the reviews were outstanding - but I wasn't.

I didn't like the characters, I felt they were all shallow, and irritating. A lot of it was unrealistic, and everyone seeme
The story sounded perfect too bad it was so misleading. There was so little love between maddy and Kerr and frankly I'm a bit upset about it. There were a few cute bits between them but the book was more about the other characters. There seemed to be too many characters, just like Jill mansells other books. It made me lose interest in many character storylines therefore made me resulting to skipping lots of pages
Very disappointing. I've like other books by this author and will continue reading her despite this unfortunate lapse in her ability to write likable characters and really tell a story.

Really disliked the step-mother - this would not be a problem if she were meant to be a villain, but it's obvious that the author meant for her to be likable.
Adorei o drama e as histórias. Sem dúvida um bom livro.
I was let down by this book. The characters didn't seem as believable or likable as other Mansell characters. So far, this has been my least favorite Mansell book.

2.5 stars. I prefer reading stories that only concentrate on 1 or 2 particular couple, not a few in 1 book.
Good fun read, pov's got a bit muddlesome sometimes and there were plotholes but lovely engrossing story
one of the best jill mansell books i have read.
The main story in Falling For You revolves around Maddy and Kerr and the tragic reason why they cannot be together. As with most Jill Mansell novels there are plenty of side stories that involve people that the 2 principal characters know.

Overall, an enjoyable and easy read. While the story wasn’t exactly unpredictable there were a few moments when I wasn’t sure how something was going to happen. I am not sure if I could pick a favourite character – most were likeable enough and those that were
Prepare for an anedote:

I read this novel quite a few years ago when I was a lot younger and didn't really appreciate this genre yet. At the time I remember really enjoying it - though for the life of me not remembering what it was about - and this fond memory actually led me to continue reading Jill Mansell books when I could actually appreciate.

I did not appreciate this one.

There is a structure to Jill Mansell novels, in which her leading couples aren't really her leading couples. She introduce
Nomeadamente, (view spoiler)

i really did enjoy this book but i will say one thing on the back it's sounds as though it's about Kerr and Maddy when actual fact out of the characters its probs about them the least as their story line is in all honestly very much in the background so in that respect the book is a tad deceptive. However that isn't to say that didn't enjoy the book because i did and some of the events that unfolded surprised me i liked all of the characters Kate admittedly took me a while to actually warm to he ...more

O causador

Jill Mansell's books (that I have so far had the misfortune to read) have been far insult to an intelligent (or even semi-intelligent) audience. All seem to follow the same premise of ultra chick lit trash. Be prepared to lose brain cells when reading her trite, clichéd rubbish.

The heroine is generally naïve and either unsuccessful in her career or from a disadvantaged background. A confirmed sap, sh'es invariably misunderstood by our dashing rich “hero” - and is usually betrayed by a former boy
I bought downloaded all of Jill Mansell’s book one day because she kept coming up in my Goodreads recommendation panel. And well, why not. I do love chick-lit books. They are the perfect easy read for the days where you want to read something but don’t want to think.

I'm really not a fan of 'chic-lit', but I couldn't let my sister just chuck out her books without reading them.

There are quite a lot of characters in this book, but it is mainly about Maddy, who meets the irristible Kerr. But he's a McKinnon, whose younger brother was responsible for her younger sister's death, and there is no way that her mother will condone the relationship. So what's a girl to do? Well, keep it secret. But then there's Kate, Maddy's arch enemy, who returns home with problems
After The Road, I totally needed some light reading. This was perfect. I love this author. She uses an interesting technique where she has 3 stories going on simultaneously. They usually connect at some point and most of the people are associated with each other. She has humor, suspense and of course, drama. There were some parts of this book where I thought “OK that would never happen”. But, for the most part, I really enjoyed this book. The story takes place in Ashcombe, UK. Maddy meets this g ...more
I have read quite a few Jill Mansell books, and I have enjoyed them all.

I love the cover on this one, and thought that the story flew well and that Jill Mansell has a fabulous way of having lots of different characters, but never getting you confused with who is who. She even gives the pets their part, which I found funny.
I love books with fantastic twist which gets you excited and then gripped and pulled into the story, wondering whats going to happen. Mansell was good for not giving away the

Inicialmente, a escrita pareceu-me forçada e, confesso, fiquei logo à partida desiludida com a obra.

A typicall Jill Mansell's book and this is why I loved it. A lot of characters, many plots, a lot of action, unexpected twists and turns... Just a hillarious read and every time I feel I am getting a little down with the life I just read Jill. It usually helps :) Although I must say that I didn't warm too much to Marcella after this what she's done to Maddy, although I try very hard to understand her. Maybe she was right and maybe I couldn't fotgive as well, but on the other hand - Maddy was her ...more
OH MY GOD. This book surprised me so much. PERFECTION. Goodreads reviews for this book were so bad and i was scared i wont like it but it was FABULOUS!! Such an intense book :O I think i like this more than Jill's 'To the moon and back' and i adored this book xD

I love the way she writes about all those characters and they're all connected. Jill writes about real people. With their ups and downs. The story is so much different than the synopsis that's been given to us. its not really about anoth
Well it took the entire book but everyone got together or hinted that they were getting together with who they should. The story was full of twists and turns which were entertaining and kept me guessing but not all the characters were fully fleshed out, considering how many there were it would have been a daunting task. Glad that Kate got to keep Norris though.

Another sweet, ensemble-cast romance from Jill Mansell. Maddy and Kerr are star-crossed lovers thanks to issues in their families' past, but they're not the only ones having trouble finding love in Ashcombe. Cheerful summer holiday reading.

I wanted to be more focus on the couple but it just seemed there were too many cHaracters to concentrate on. It's still a nice read though. Easy and fun.

Jill Mansell lives with her partner and children in Bristol, and writes full time. Actually that’s not true; she watches TV, eats fruit gums, admires the rugby players training in the sports field behind her house, and spends hours on the internet marvelling at how many other writers have blogs. Only when she’s completely run out of displacement activities does she write.
