Offcuts from An Adult Evening with Shel Silverstein

As far as I could tell, this was more shorts a'la An Adult Evening of Shel Silverstein but not as good. One or two were up to the same standard, ('Duck' particularly) but this was overall more 'okay and quite interesting' than the ecstatically good, aforementioned collection of shorts.

That said, since they're shorts I'm sure a good cast and good direction could bring them up to standard - but generally, I'd suggest you start with An Adult Eve

Shelves: thumbs-down, plays
Again, as with An Adult Evening of Shel Silverstein, the bad outweighs the good. Some of the plays are very good, especially "All Cotton", but some are just so utterly horrible and needlessly crude (Mr. Silverstein seems to have fallen under the sway of the South Parkian philosophy that "shocking equals funny". Just because a guy drops his pants in the middle of the skit does not make it funny).

Shelves: play
These many short plays are fun, mostly. Apparently, the only time they’ve been produced these 18 plays were done over two nights. Some of them are very over the top, several of them are not appropriate for the audience Silverstein built with his many children’s books.

Shel is incredible and multifaceted as he proves with these shorts. Witty and very mature with a touch of spice that just makes it more Shel-ish. I am in love with his work, lessons lessons and more lessons.
