By no means the definitive work on northern Uganda's recent history of conflict, however it is helpful for developing a framework toward understanding. I met people in northern Uganda who directly contradicted things in this book, but who also said this book was illuminating on things that had been muddled through the media and local rumor. For me, this book was very helpful as I tried to make sense of the various stories I would hear from the locals and from the Ugandan Government.
