Every author is entitled to one or two stinkers. So even after reading this, I can still be a loyal fan of Margaret Peterson Haddix.
I don't like reading a mystery book when I can figure out the "big mystery" on page six. It was painfully obvious and it was agonizing reading the protagonist being so clueless.
If anyone beside Margaret Peterson Haddix had written the book, I would have stopped reading by the end of the chapter. But because she has never let me down, I kept on re...more

anybody cuz this book is UNBELIEVEABLE
If you have not read this book then you should because it is VERY good and I LOVE IT SO MUCH!!! I read it last year sometime. It is really unbelieveable on how the boy pulls it all off. But its kinda weird how their grandparents have the same names as other older people in that area. Ms. Sauer and Kayla, read it!!!

i am currently readingt his book and it is very interesting. bran, the older brother, got a house sitting job at a beautiful house for the whole summer. the problem is, is that he seems to be hiding stuff from his mom and sister, brittney. brittney is very annoyed and suspicious...its a great book and i like it.

My thirteen-year-old sister told me that I had to read this book before I READ ANY OTHER BOOKS. So I read it. Wasn't that impressed, but loved the twist at the end. I could see how this fast-paced mystery could be a YA powerhouse.

This was a really good book. Even when I thought the mystery was solved, there continued to be even more twists and turns in the plot that I wasn't expecting.

This was a good book, and it kept you guessing about what was going to happen. But the ending was not very strong and it kinda ruined the book.

It was amazing. It had the twist and turns that I love to read in a Haddix book. When I thought I had it I was far from having it.

Interesting, but annoying mostly because the kids were named Brit and Bran. Sounds like cereal or fibers or something.

It was a very interesting book. The ending was sort of a let down. Still, it was quite interesting. ^_^

It was somewhat unbelievable that the mother and sister didn't catch on a lot sooner.

Somewhat predictable, but a fun read. I always like Haddix's story ideas.

Very young and simplistic, especially compared to Haddix's other books.
