New York Times best-selling author Lisa Jackson crafts the breathtaking tale of a woman haunted by disaster, unable to escape the ghosts of her past. When she was only 16, Cassidy Buchanan fell for the 19-year-old bad boy in town, Brig McKenzie - who'd had his share of run-ins with both the law and the local women. Then a terrible fire killed Cassidy's sister, and Brig was ...more

There's a reason why I like Lisa Jackson. The woman sure knows how to write a damn good story!

Lots of characters as individual as possible. Some you like, some you can really despise.

I liked the setting as well. The country is one setting that I love when filled with intrigue, suspense and suspicious, devious characters.

Cassidy struck me as a smart, headstrong young woman, at the beginning, and the same later. Brig had a good head on his shoulders. Chase, full of ambition, wanting nothing but re

This story was disappointing. The characters were annoying--no one said what they should have said. The dialogue was forced and unbelievable. The twists were easily predictable--I figured both out well before I was supposed to. And again with the gratuitous sex scenes that added nothing to the relationships or storyline. The incestuous undercurrent in the plot was gross.

This is the second book I have read by this author. I felt the same for the first one as I did this one so I just think this w

I usually love Lisa Jackson's book, but Final Scream is just a waste of paper. I hate to be so critical, but I could not even finish the book. I will read more books from her, but stay away from this one, folks. 1 star

WOW pretty much sums up my thoughts on this book. I have not even the slightest resemblance of negative or constructive criticism regarding this book. I recommend this book to anyone regardless of preferred genre! A book filled with love, betrayal, and crime, a story I cant get enough of. This is one of the only books i would ever read again. It also contains an ending no one, no matter how much you think you can, figure out! Read it, you wont regret it!!

This book started out great. It captivated me as a reader, spoke to my romantic soul and made me fall in love with Brig. then, when I though the book was about to reach climax and end, it turns out that I was only at the end of the first part of the novel (I was reading an electronic copy). the characters were great and we really got to know them and their true inner selves, but the story dragged on too long. the suspense lost its appeal and became very uninteresting after about 30 or so pages. ...more

I've never read a Lisa Jackson book I liked less than this one. This was a total waste of time and not worthy of the author at all. I have to confess that I really didn't even finish it--it was that bad. I kept trying to work my way through it because I just hate to stop reading a book in the middle, but it just dragged on and on and on.......First of all, I am used to Lisa Jackson being a suspense writer --not a writer of soft porn. Hello--a 19-year-old and a 16-year-old having sex is technical ...more

I loved this book! It is my favorite book by Lisa Jackson. I enjoyed the relationship she built between her characters and the attraction. The twist at the end had me on the edge of my seat. Once I started the book, I couldn't put it down.

This is one of the best Lisa Jackson books I have read. The book was slow to start but it leaves you guessing through the whole book! Great storyline as well, characters were well placed and their stories were woven nicely

In honesty I have to say that I found this a tough slog, it was interesting but I thought it had ended several times, and then I was wrong and away we went again. The characters didn't have much in the way of redeeming qualities as far as I could see, they were either rich, entitled, conceited and selfish or poor, hard working and humble (oops forgot good looking). That about covered it. Evil, all of them. The story starts out with a fire and several deaths, there's a fire and a death half way t ...more

This was one of my favorite books by Lisa Jackson! I never expected the ending and it was a wild ride each and every page! Buchanan family is one of the richest families in Prosperity, Oregon. Mr. Buchanan runs the saw mill and his land of trees has made him mighty rich. His first wife bore him two children Angie and Derrick. After his wife killed herself he found himself remarried to Dena. Dena and Rex had a child they named Cassidy. Rex and his family owned a large home, not only with amazing ...more

Well I am just going to start in by saying that I love this book. I mean I own this book on my personal book shelf and I have read it about 15 times since I got this book. I can not find anything that I do not like about this book. It is one of those books that I finish reading and then I go back and I want to read it again.

Brig and Cassidy are my favorite characters in this novel. Their romance is so sweet. I enjoyed seeing Brig fall in love for the first time, and not even realize that it is h

Having read mostly YA books for most of my life, this book was only my third or fourth venture into adult novels, and mystery novels in specific.

I was looking for a quick read that would keep me busy while vacationing at the beach for a few days and was pleasantly surprised when I enjoyed the book so much that I stayed up all night to finish it.

The characters were so engaging and the mystery definitely kept me guessing. Who was the culprit? Who was going to come out alive? Who was having an affa

This was entertaining. It held my interest and had quite a few surprises. The characters were all very complex and multi-dimensional. I think I liked the first part better than the second part, just because I felt like the second part started to get a bit repetitive.

I can't say much about this book without giving away plot twists. I would describe this book as a "guilty pleasure". Both the McKenzie and Buchanan families are totally messed up and so many things happen to various members of the two families that are totally preposterous or way over the top. But for some reason the book works, mostly because of Lisa Jackson's skill in building suspense, and because she is able to write characters that either you cheer for or you love to hate.

A roller coaster read!

Final Scream definitely had its ups and downs. The beginning of the book was so slow moving and "drug out" I almost put it down. However, the book picked up with a complicated, contorted plot consisting of a cast of dysfunctional characters, betrayals, and murder. While I enjoyed the twists and turns, and became hooked on the mystery, I did not feel the story was believable and did not appreciate the depravity depicted in the book.

It was an interesting read, not my favourite Lisa Jackson book. I found that they spent so much time on the lead up to who the killer was that when it was revealed it seemed rushed and an afterthought. I also found the time spent in the '70's with the characters as teenagers was a little too long . I assumed the whole book would be in that time period due to the amount of time spent describing. All in all a satisfying read.

I'm a little torn about this book.
I actually liked how it started.
The story was good, the characters, even though there is a lot of them, are well-developed and interesting.
Each plays their role in the culmination of the finale.

But somewhere in the middle, it lost me.
And I couldn't continue.
So I had to jump to the end to find out what happened.
And I was shocked.
Who would have though that the murderer is ________?!?!?

I made so many guesses in the beginning, not this person though.
So I went back a

This is the first book I have read by this author, and apparantly, this was a rewrite of a book she had written earlier n her career. Overall, I did like the story even though some parts were a bit predictable. The good guys were likeable, the killer/arsonist was well hidden and there were plenty of characters to keep you guessing.

There wasn't anything that I really didn't like in this book, but it isn't like I am giving it a rave review. I think I would have to read another book or two by Lisa

Weird Twists and Turns

Wonderful read with interesting characters. Really convoluted family and some very evil characters with totally "black" hearts --my family has its problems but I'm glad to say nothing like these. Never expected who the villain turned out to be.

This is the second Lisa Jackson book I have read. One more to go (Hand-me-downs.) A couple of similarities: someone with super natural powers, and forbidden sex which, begins with eyes and sighs, then closer, then closer then a kiss, then no we shouldn't do this, then more. But not all at one time; as you go through the book. So I am thinking I have read all this before, but then came a murder. And, for a good while, it was a good whodunit story. My only objection is that it was dragged out with ...more

FINAL SCREAM

There were a lot of very strange characters in this book, but the main two, Cassidy and Briggs were perfect. I really enjoyed this book, would like a sequel- maybe a little shorter, there was almost too much going on in this story.

A story about the rich Buchanan family in Oregon. Cassidy Buchanan, 16, falls for the bad boy in town, Brig McKenzie. A sawmill burns, and he’s the primary suspect and he runs. Excellent book, filled with many bombs, twists, and turns.

Keeps you hooked

Not my favorite by Lisa Jackson, but it did hold my attention and keep me hooked. Loved the complicated main characters, though the final outcome was predictable. It was the type of ending I enjoy. It was a good read.

Probably the unhappiest, most miserable collection of characters I've ever read about. If I were any of them, I would have wished for the Brooklyn Bridge to be nearby so I could jump off it.

This being said, the story was compelling and I couldn't take my eyes off it. Loved the ending, too.

A friend gave me a big box of books recently and this was one of them. I'm almost done reading everything, and the only reason I waited so long to read this was because... it's kind of long. Now, if you know me, you know I don't shy away from long books. But lately, I've just been looking for something easy and quick to read. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that even with the length of this novel, it still falls under the "easy and quick" category.

It's a great story, and more importantly.
