There's a reason why I like Lisa Jackson. The woman sure knows how to write a damn good story!
Lots of characters as individual as possible. Some you like, some you can really despise.
I liked the setting as well. The country is one setting that I love when filled with intrigue, suspense and suspicious, devious characters.
Cassidy struck me as a smart, headstrong young woman, at the beginning, and the same later. Brig had a good head on his shoulders. Chase, full...more

Having read mostly YA books for most of my life, this book was only my third or fourth venture into adult novels, and mystery novels in specific.
I was looking for a quick read that would keep me busy while vacationing at the beach for a few days and was pleasantly surprised when I enjoyed the book so much that I stayed up all night to finish it.

This is the second Lisa Jackson book I have read. One more to go (Hand-me-downs.) A couple of similarities: someone with super natural powers, and forbidden sex which, begins with eyes and sighs, then closer, then closer then a kiss, then no we shouldn't do this, then more. But not all at one time; as you go through the book. So I am thinking I have read all this before, but then came a murder. And, for a good while, it was a good whodunit story. My only objection is that it was dragged out with...more
A friend gave me a big box of books recently and this was one of them. I'm almost done reading everything, and the only reason I waited so long to read this was because... it's kind of long. Now, if you know me, you know I don't shy away from long books. But lately, I've just been looking for something easy and quick to read. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that even with the length of this novel, it still falls under the "easy and quick" category.

Final Scream was an awesome read and I couldn't put it down. It was a well written story with well developed characters. Lisa Jackson is a genius in her own right. The passion and the love lost then found again between Brig and Cassidy was to die for. I found that the flopping back and forth between past and present was a much needed part of the story. At no point did the story get boring, it was gripping from the first page to the last.
Three or for good twists, but some of them were pretty obvious. I didn't suspect the bad guy's character, and in retrospect I should have. There was also a side story with one of the characters that I don't really think added anything to the plot, except to illustrate how absolutely dispicable one of the characters was. I don't really think this was necessary. The depth of his depravity was already pretty obvious.

I have just ventured into Part II of this book. I find Lisa Jackson very easy to get absorbed into and not realize how far you've gone into her books! But the time I go to Part II I wasn't sure if I even wanted to go on. There has already been so much tragedy and it seems like everyone is miserable, but I am hoping for some closure and I finish this novel. More to come...
This is the first book I have read by this author, and apparantly, this was a rewrite of a book she had written earlier n her career. Overall, I did like the story even though some parts were a bit predictable. The good guys were likeable, the killer/arsonist was well hidden and there were plenty of characters to keep you guessing.

I usually love Lisa Jacksons book, but this one I found just ok. I was really interested in the first half of the book, but the 2nd half just lost my interest. I was disappointed because with the beginning (1977) being so good, I had wanted a much better story line for the present.
This story was disappointing. The characters were annoying--no one said what they should have said. The dialogue was forced and unbelievable. The twists were easily predictable--I figured both out well before I was supposed to. And again with the gratuitous sex scenes that added nothing to the relationships or storyline. The incestuous undercurrent in the plot was gross.

Long and intense. A little Harlequin-y in spots, with some of the writing being a bit self-conscious and repetitive, but the book was a good read. I didn’t guess the ID of the culprit, which rarely happens and was a pleasant surprise.

I actually really liked this book. Lisa Jackson isn't a bad author and I've liked other books she has written but this one I really enjoyed. I really got into the characters and story line
I really liked the storyline, althought it became predictable in some parts. It held just enough suspense with a touch of romance. I liked this book, as well as "Lost Souls" by this author. Willing to read more of her work.
I loved this book! It is my favorite book by Lisa Jackson. I enjoyed the relationship she built between her characters and the attraction. The twist at the end had me on the edge of my seat. Once I started the book, I couldn't put it down.
This book has lot of twist and turn....which makes a person want to read more !!!! but did not like the way this script ended (esp who the killer was...
Pretty good book but the characters are almost like you'd see in a B movie...just not too exciting...not too engrossing.
This was the first book I have read from Lisa Jackson. Loved it!!! Will definately be reading all of her books!!!
Good plot twists though the writing left something to be desired. The story jumped without much transition.
This one actually had me stumped. I figured out everything except for who the killer was. Great book!
This book I am having a hard time getting through it. I thought it was a suspense book when I had got it, but turned out to be totatly different. I am almost halfway through it, there are some areas where it is really good, but overall not the best reading for me anyway.
I made it halfway through and then I couldn't put it down. It turned out to be a great book. I thought I had figured out who did it but took a totaly different turn in the end. Above all I would still recommend this book, j...more

Wow. this was a really good suspense book. it was labeled under romance/suspense but I would say it gears more towards the suspense part. This was a great storyline, with twist after twist! I can actually say that I did not figure out any twist or figure out any plots until it was thrown at me! That was a good thing. In books where you can pinpoint the bad guy right away.not so fun. well not in this book. I said a lot of "holy cow" (the clean version) throughout this book. If you like...more
Another great book from Lisa Jackson that I didnt want to put down!!!
It was Ok, but too much of a romance novel to suit me.
murder, deception, romance ... what more could a girl ask from a book!
Good plot and good characters, but the book could have ended much sooner. I started to lose interest half way through and then it got interesting again right at the end. The title makes you think this is going to be quite the suspense/thriller, but it isn't at least not until the very end. Guess you have to read it to understand what mean. Not my favorite by Lisa Jackson.
WOW Talk about a messed up family. Final Scream is a great read and keeps you on the edge of your seat until the final page.
This is the first book by this author and I'm really not sure. I enjoyed it overall, but there were parts I felt a little bogged down. The characters were a little predictable and I knew who the killer was about half way through. I am currently reading another one and so I will see if I like this one better.

hot flames in the dark sky, a killer waits around in the trees, watching the mill burn, listening for the screams. This is a very tragic book with death and sadness. mysterious fire that destroyed her wealthy family seventeen years ago. The tragic crime has never been solved. WOWWWWW O.O
Wow.... when will I ever stop with these books? It's not what you would say addicting? But it's kind like hm.... ice cream. You have to have it every once in a while. What can I say? Thrillers provide a relief that I appreciate once in a while. It's a world to hide in from all the stress.
I'm not sure how I feel about this book.
This was my first by Lisa Jackson.
At certain points I was interested and intrigued. At others it felt long and way over the top.
It seems that LJ packed as many dramatic situations into the story that she could think of.
