Opening line: "All of the major network news cameras were rolling as Tedric Cortere, crown prince of Ustanzia, entered the airport."

Prince Joe is the 1st from Brockmann’s 11 book Tall Dark and Dangerous series, its Troubleshooters ‘light’ and except for a couple of issues its very, very good. And damn but that Brockman can write a delicious hero because Prince Joe, well I fell a little (lot)in love with him. This SEAL was just arrogant, combat hardened and rough enough around the edges to catch...more

I tried a few times to get into this one, but I just couldn't relate with the whole romance part. Every time I found myself just enjoying the plot (which was actually interesting), it got bogged down with repetitive cliches on how hot the heroine is and how horny Joe is. The romance moved way too fast and the pacing of it threw me too. I wanted to love this one as I normally love Brockmann, but this one didn't work for me.

Liked this better on the reread. Joe Cat is a good character.

This one was pretty implausible. I generally don't like when authors make up European countries just so they can have a princess in their story but what are you going to do? The story was okay. The take down scenes on the boat were pretty good if I remember correctly. I read this a long time ago. I like Joe Cat a lot in future stories in the series and you really ought to read it if you're going to read the series since this is the sta...more

By Suzanne Brockmann. Tall Dark and Dangerous #1. Grade A
Veronica St. John is facing the challenge of a lifetime. The media consultant has two days to teach a rugged Navy SEAL to impersonate a European prince who has been targeted by terrorists. It’s a tough assignment, but Veronica is sure she’s up to the task – until she actually meets Joe.

This was my first ever book regarding Navy Seals and what they are about, what they do, their training, etc. Don't get me wrong, I mean, I know that they existed, but yeah, it was an American thing so I didn't really pay much attention. (No disrespect)

But the minute I started reading this book, I couldn't put it down. I just loved it!

(I quickly got myself the rest of the series - Tall Dark and Dangerous series.)

I was addicted.

I fell a little (a lot) in love with him.

I felt bad because I really feel that a 1 star rating should come with a reason for that low rating. Suzanne Brockmann is a very popular author in the romance genre, and I am sure that my rating gets a lot of raised eyebrows. For me, this book is a fail. Why? I cannot stand the heroine! I tried my hardest to keep reading, but she annoyed me so much, and I didn't even want to be bothered. Honestly, I have a problem with Suzanne Brockmann's heroines in general. I find most of them fairly unlikable...more

Neat concept but thoughts and actions ruined it for me.

I loved the two main characters and the storyline, but the book should have been about 1/2 of the length. The author filled the story with endless ruminations within the characters' minds. They both kept assuming the wrong things about the words the other said. CAUTION SPOILERS: For example, he asks her to marry him, she says no because they are from two different worlds. He thinks she means he is too low class for her, but what she really m...more

Once again I've gotten an audio book of something I've already read - and once again, I liked it just as much as the first time! I started Brockmann with the Troubleshooters series, and then tackled Tall, Dark & Dangerous, of which this is the first book. Brockmann takes a group of SEALS, turns them into these dangerous and charmingly vulnerable heartthrobs and throws a woman into the mix who turns their worlds upside down and makes them grovel. It's pure fantasy, even if there isn't anythin...more

I liked Joe, very much. Veronica, I was a bit less sure about.

This book suffered from the "misunderstandings, all the time" plot that many romances seem to fall victim to. If only they had been able to clearly express their feelings, much of the drama here would never have happened. You might argue that there wouldn't have been a book without that plot point but I disagree- Joe being a SEAL is certainly a huge issue for the couple to get over and I think the mystery aspect could have been expand...more

When Tedric Cortere, crown prince of Ustanzia, barely escapes an assassination attempt during the first leg of his American journey, he suggests substituting a lookalike. Navy SEAL Lieutenant Joe Catalanotto was willing to volunteer, never expecting that the real danger was to his heart. Veronica St. John, media consultant to the Prince, must now try to turn Joe into royalty while resisting the building attraction between them.

This is the first in Brockmann's Tall, Dark & Dangerous series wh...more

I didn't think much of Prince Joe. It had steamy scenes that were much appreciated, but it didn't really catch and hold my attention. Half-way through and I wanted to drop it. Joe was too perfect. I wanted to flaw him so badly! He knows 8 languages, he's a kick ass SEAL soldier, and he's ruggedly handsome. I wanted something to taint him. I wanted a believable male protagonist. Joe was too perfect and sexy. Haha, I know I shouldn't be complaining about that, but still. The thing that I really lo...more

This was my first Military Romance I've read. I loved it! It is about Joe who is a SEAL and Veronica who is a media consultant. The premise of the book is that Joe looks like a Prince from a foreign country and this prince is soon going to visit the US. Veronica is hired to make Joe act and look and virtually become this prince. He must take the Prince's place at functions because of assasination attempts.
The characters were great! I loved the writing and the story had a good amount of action an...more

Siapa sangka, kan, dg penampilan luarnya -yang menurut Jo...more

This had no originality what so ever. Talk about a cardboard story line.
I only continued reading because I liked the plot and wanted to see how things would end up. But seriously I thought Ronnie would be a strong character, at least that's the impression I got from the beginning and it ended with her barring her self completely. Ugh. Can't stand that fact.
Also I was annoyed by the writing style. It sounds like a teenager writing her a fan fiction. I got used to it after a while. But stil YA a...more

I'm on a Suzanne Brockman- Men in Uniform kick lately. I started her Troubleshooters series recently but after the heartfail of the last one I decided to take a break and check out her previous series which happens to be a Harleguin Romance series. Much less complex where Troubleshooters has multiple plotlines and romances simultaneously goping on these books are one romance - one plotline. I basically read two in one day! But they were entertaining...though the common theme of miscommunication...more

As always this writer has captivated my attention to keep reading. Another beautiful love story between Lieutenant Joe Paulo Catalanotto, NAVY SEAL "Cat" and Veronica St. John "Ronnie", who has to transformed Joe to impersonate the person that he doesn't have any respect for; who almost cost the life of one of his team members while saving Tedric's life. Tedric Cortere, Ustanzia's Prince is at risk of being kill by a terrorist cell The Cloud of Death commanded by Diosdado Perez and the retiree s...more

I wanted a light romance for in between and that's what I exactly got, so no dissapointment in that. I liked the characters, the story and the setting - even if I personally will never get what's attractive about men with long hair.^^

I really liked the 1st three quarters of the book, but then the pacing got odd. The author spend so much time with the preperations, that I thought she would stick with it, but in the last quarter we got from event to event and the started relationship felt short. I...more

He he...really cute plot and very sweet romance. I love it when the big bad SEALs fall in love...and they don't even realize it at first! And no doubt about it...this guy was more princely than the real one. Navy SEALs are just freaking AWESOME.

My main issue with this is that I wish they had fleshed out the Diosdado/Prince Tederic involvement a little more...or maybe made it just a little more believable of how "all of a sudden" it seemed that these really smart military guys realized that the...more

I have a hard time buying into the premise of this book, that a SEAL would be the double of a prince from some unknown country in Europe and then be called into be his double. Then when Joe came in, he was an ass. He didn't seemed to think that he didn't need to prepare that he could do this no problem. He kept putting himself down for his heritage and upbringing, his attitude turned me off not making him very likable. Veronica was blah for me. By the time I got to the end of the book I am not s...more

I got this book, along with another Suzanne Brockmann title, from Paperback Swap years ago... when I was first introduced to the romance genre. And I just got around to reading it last night!

It was a quick, fun read and I liked it a lot more than I expected to, honestly. I was surprised that, for such a quick read (that's half the length of most books I read these days), the characters were well developed and the plot had a twist or two.

I'm a huge fan of the "opposites attract" theme, and this bo...more

This was my first book by this author and I expected more from this book. After having heard so much about Suzanne Brockmann I wanted a book with more than a book with gaping plot holes and a exasperating romance. Joe and Veronica made me want to bang my head in the wall, the problems in their romance were so stupid and they were blowing it off to elephantine proportions. I wanted my characters to have more depth, the plot to have more thrill, the story to have less loose ends. I was disappointe...more

This book was very slow to start for me; In fact there were times where I was just plain bored. But despite those times of boredom and the fact that I think the author used the words NAVY and SEAL so much that they could account for the last 10 pages alone, I liked this story. I liked how Ronnie saved the Prince, but got irritated that no one except for a phone call from Bill (the president) cared or thanked her. I would have liked to have seen Joe find out this news and or maybe his team so the...more

Normally I don’t like stories about princes and kings from fake countries –they tend to bug me especially with a contemporary setting because they come off as dumb but this book thankfully didn’t focus on that too much. For the most part it was a light romance with a dollop of suspense and some heartfelt moments scattered around.

Joe Catalanotto is a navy SEAL whose job is to impersonate the prince of Ustanzia who has had an assassination attempt on his life during an official tour to the US. Ver...more

I have read all of the books so far in Brockman's Troubleshooters series so I decided to start on her older series, Tall, Dark & Dangerous. Prince Joe, the first installment in this series, has similar characteristics to the books of Troubleshooters since it focuses on military characters (the hero in the book being a Navy SEAL). I didn't enjoy this book as much as I enjoy the Troubleshooter books. It could have used more character development, especially with Veronica's character (the heroi...more

I really hope this series gets better as I have 10 of the books. This really did nothing for me. It was boring. Veronica was bland. Joe was okay, but nothing special. The story was beyond unrealistic. The sex was so-so............ again, nothing special.

I will read reviews from the rest of the series before I decide whether or not to read the other books. I've read that they get better after this one. I really hope so. This was pretty bad.
