Uncommon valor in the line of duty and unconditional devotion in the name of love are the salient qualities of the daring men and women who risk it all in the heart-pounding thrillers of New York Times bestselling author Suzanne Brockmann. Crafted with precision and power, her characters come alive with a depth of emotion few writers have achieved. Now, with Breaking Point...more

Okay, Okay. I'm a Max fan. I'm a Jules fan. I'm a Gina fan. So why wasn't this a 5 star book?

Yeah, I don't know either. It just wasn't. The book was good, don't get me wrong. Parts of it were extraordinary, actually. The plot was great, although the reasoning behind it was a little weak for me. I didn't buy it after a certain point.

The action was great, although it was a little too unlikely.

Jules as Max was wonderful. More than meets the eye, definitely. He can be just as Max-esque as Max, an...more

This book had me going. Max and Gina who you first met in Gone Too Far are so in love, but Max is determined to push her away. When he finds out that Gina is killed in a terrorist attack he along with FBI agent Jules Cassidy run to the rescue deteremined to find out what happened.

You'll love this book too. You'll also see Jones and Molly again who you first met in Out of Control.

Sexy, lots of action, great characters with lots of personality. If you read any of the Troubleshooters series you MUS...more

I got this audiobook and got through the first CD before I realized there was a back story (by checking out Amazon). I then went back and read books 2-6 in this series. If you don't at least read books 3 and 4, you'll be missing out on Max and Gina's (book 3) and Jones and Molly's (book 4) story. You'll also get some background on Jules, who shows up a lot in this series. As a bonus you'll see the Sam and Alyssa story in books 2 - 6. (which is AMAZING)

This was a great audio listen and I found th...more

By Suzanne Brockmann. Troubleshooters #9. Grade A+
Breaking Point is Suzanne Brockmann at her best. Let us begin with the blurb:

Unabridged audiobook review for Speaking of Audiobooks column 6/17/10:

Narrated by Patrick Lawlor and Melanie Ewbank
Although not one of my favorites in the Troubleshooters series, this is still an entertaining audiobook. But my level of enjoyment was due mostly to the author’s talent rather than the dual narration. Leads Max and Gina are well known to followers of the series but it was the continued love story between Jones and Molly that spelled absolute magic for me. The dual narration seemed s...more

Action is what easily comes to mind in Breaking Point. There is plenty of it to drive the plot and keep it interesting. Also plentiful is the romance, although not necessarily romantic. This was my first Suzanne Brockmann novel and it won't be my last. A fast-paced, unrelenting plot paired with characters who are lively, virile, courageous, and witty makes for an enjoyable read.

The first half of the story interchanges with past events going back years and months. At first I wasn't sure what to m...more

I absolutely loved this one--one of the best since the first book, I thought, which is surprising since absolutely no one from Team Sixteen even shows up in it! (And it was okay, it really was--Jules and Max and Jones more than made up for it...plus, there's a teeny little Alyssa cameo. Sam is apparently there as well, but we don't see him, alas.)

I didn't at all have a problem with the back and forth time shifts on this one, because I thought it worked well for the story. There's certain things...more

This is the book I was waiting for... the story of Max & Gina - finally! The story where, presumably, Max finally gets over his stuff and admits that he can't live without Gina. But also, and almost as importantly, it's the story where, hopefully, Molly and Jones find each other again. And everyone has their HEA.

Yeah... or rather, no. It's never that easy, is it?

The first third of this book almost made me BONKERS (crazy) with the device of inserting various flashbacks within the current "now...more

Max and Jones in the same book?? Does she want to kill me lol!! these two were great.I thought this book was the best written most funny with a lot of brilliant one liners. Max just pops out of the book for me his aura and restraint are what attracted me to him and also his power. Max as head of the FBI is in love with Gina a much younger woman who he helped save from a hijacking. Gina who was gang raped and recovored well is full of life and in love with him but he thinks she's too young and pu...more

Took a little for me to get into because I am not a fan for flashbacks. While this read didn’t contain true flashbacks it was the jumps in time that didn’t work for me. That being said, this read takes us to the early days of Max at the Bureau and shows us their tumultuous relationship to bring us up to date, when a report that Gina has been killed is brought to Max’s attention. As he goes off to claim her body he finds things are not as they seem. Ex-SEAL Jones’ romance with Moll...more

I really suffered through the whole book. I hate, hate, hate when the hero and the heroine are separated and in this book, both my heroines were far, far like the other side of the world far, from their men (and rescuers!).

But on the other hand, seeing Max and Jules work together was wonderful!

The book begins with Max and Jules flying to Germany, because they had to recognize Gina corpse, dead in an explosion, before sending her back to her family. Only that Gina corpse is not where it's expect...more

This is the second Suzanne Brockmann novel I've read and I really enjoyed it. I loved the romance/suspense in this book. Usually I do not care for secondary romances in the novels I read, wanting to focus on the main characters, but I have to admit that I did enjoy the romance between Molly and Jones as well and how they intertwined with the main characters, Max and Gina. I did enjoy Jules' character but did think the author could have done him a little more justice. Some of it was just not very...more

Brockmann seems to have run out of both moral lessons and WWII stories in this installment of the series. I haven't been reading every book in the series, but this is the first I've come across so far that hasn't had both a big overriding "point" and a WWII subplot to emphasize that point.

Without those elements, this is a less interesting, and more typical, action-adventure-romance story. There's nothing particularly fascinating here -- although we do get to know one of the most interesting rec...more

When Max Bhagat, the "boss" of the elite FBI counterterrorism unit, hears that Gina Vitagliano was killed in a bombing in Germany, he looses his cool and think of nothing more than to get her body back to the USA. With the help of Jules Cassidy, Max discovers that Gina isn't dead but she may be in grave danger as well as her travelling companion Molly Anderson because of a man that Max once let get away, Grady Morant aka Dave Jones.
Max will stop at nothing to bring her back to the USA and in his...more

I love the characters in this book- love the struggling romance between Max and Gina; his stubborn refusal to acknowledge how real and important his feelings for Gina are, her determination to get Max to realize what they have is a blessing. My biggest complaint is all the bouncing around between times and character viewpoints in the first half of the book. I don't mind an occasionally flashback to help provide background info but this was way too much for me.

My second gripe is when Jules calls...more

Max Bhagat was the FBI negotiator who became the voice of sanity when Gina becomes the mouthpiece for hijackers. When she leaves for Kenya he thinks its for the best that she will no longer be mixed up with him. Until word comes that she's been killed in a hotel bombing. Within 24 hours Max is at the hotel only to learn that it wasn't Gina after all. That should have been good news but no one knows where she is and it becomes more and more obvious that she and her friend Molly have been taken ho...more

I've read everyone of Suzanne Brockman's "Trouble Shooter" Series. I loved them all. Some of the characters emotional responses are very similar so they can get a little tedious. However, you love the characters so much it really doesn't matter. Suzanne Brockman is revolutionary in her including a couple of her romances of same sex couples. I can't imagine why there's been a division in romances but I'm glad there's no division with her series. Jules Cassidy is one of my favorite characters with...more

This is one of my favorites from the series. Max finally gives in to his feelings for Gina. The scenes before he realizes that she is still alive are very intense. They also set him up to give in to his feelings for her as he realizes that life is short and love is not to be turned away. I also love the conclusion of Grady and Molly's story. I love Grady. His life is pretty heart rending and he deserves his HEA.

The suspense part is well done and believable and Jules is on the top of his game her...more

Upon its initial release, I remember being vastly disappointed in Breaking Point. After all, Max and Gina's story had been on a slow burn since Over the Edge - six books previously - and that's a lot of time to build unrealistic expectations. (This will be THE GREATEST LOVE STORY OF ALL TIME! It will be THE LAST BOOK I WILL EVER NEED TO READ! Its publication WILL USHER IN WORLD PEACE, AND FREE CHOCOLATES FOR ALL! Etc., etc.) As it turned out, none of those things were the case, and upon re-read...more

I read this because I had stumbled across an interview with the author on the web. She had dedicated one of her books to her son with these words:[return] One night, you took a deep breath and said to me, 'Mom, I think I'm gay.' 'I know that,' I told you, giving you a hug and a kiss. 'I love you I'll always love you. Where did you put your dirty socks?' [return]She is is apparently well known in the romantic fiction field with several awards for her tales about seriously hunky Special Operatives...more

It was a great book! I loved to see Max and Gina. I was kind of worried about the flashbacks, but it all worked out nicely.

I have been looking forward to reading this book ever since we first met Molly and Grady and then after Gone Too Far I was beyond eager to see how Max and Gina's story would evolve. I loved Brockmann's use of flashbacks in the first half of the book to fill us in on what had happened after Max was shot in Gone Too Far. In truth the flashbacks were the most compelling part of this book. I was a little disappointed with the conclusion. It just didn't live up to my expectations. I do hope that we s...more

One of my least favorite TS books, although Brockmann writes so well that even my less-favorites are always included in a series re-read.

This is finally Max and Gina's book but it's told in a crazy time-hopping manner that shows Suz's skill as a writer but doesn't appeal to me personally. A number of things don't actually: Max's desperate need to push Gina away, Gina's personal style (I just don't get the sense she and I would be friends, so I don't feel as invested in her journey), even Molly a...more

So I have finally finished this book. I guess it took me awhile because of my crazy busy schedule but alot had to do with the first half of the book. I was already tired of hearing how Max screwed up things between him and Gina and how he believed that pushing her away was the right thing to do. I wanted someone to kick some sense into his stubborn head. For a real smart FBI negotiator, he really sucked when it came to his personal life. As for Gina, I liked her. She is far more mature than the...more

“Mol, it's not probably nothing if they fucking want you to go to Germany."
She winced, and he turned to the people-mostly women- who were filling most of those waiting room seat.
"Excuse me. This doctor thinks my wife, whom I love more than life, has breast cancer, so I'm going to say fuck probably about ten more times. Is that okay with all of you?”

“I love quick,” Gina said. “And come on, I’m getting jealous here. Was it zero sex last year for you,
too?”
“Yes,” he admitted. “I love you, you weren’t there—what was I going to do?”
“Are you actually embarrassed, ” she asked, “because you weren’t some kind of man-ho and—”
“No,” Max said. “I’m embarrassed that it took me an entire fucking year and a half and the worst scare
of my life to figure out that I can’t live without you.”
