I picked this book up on a whim and found a new writer that I really liked. Her writing style in this book was quirky and fun. She writes exactly how people talk.

Annie is recovering from the loss of her best friend and moves home to Sarasota Florida. She gets a job with an old friend of her brothers that owns a private detective agency. Ric Alvarado is a Cuban/American ex cop that has set up this detective agency and when Annie comes to work for him his sexist, protective instincts kick in. He...more

5 Stars... Force of Nature has it all... it's like all your dreams come true and this book give it to you. We have more funny moments, steamy scenes, love that finds each other at least *yay* and non stop action. Now what more could you ask for?

When I started Force of Nature I was mainly looking forward to reading more about Robin and Jules. What surprised me was the beautiful, funny and hot relationship that developed between Ric and Annie Dugan. I wasn't left unhappy about any aspect of these...more

I’m a little ashamed to admit this, but I was almost put the remaining Troubleshooters stories on an indefinite hiatus. *hides* I truly enjoyed the first 6 books. Aside from book 8, Hot Target, I found the other installments to be less impressive. However, Force of Nature, the 11th book, brought back everything that I love about the Troubleshooters series and Suzanne Brockmann’s writing.

Annie and Ric, and Jules and Robin were the perfect pairing. Where Annie and Ric had passion and feistiness, J...more

Brockmann's previous book, Into the Storm, didn't give fans of gay FBI agent Jules Cassidy much time with their hero, but our patience is rewarded in Force of Nature (going by the title I was half-afraid this was going to be a hurricane Katrina plot). Jules finally gets center stage, though he has to share it with a heterosexual couple who are disappointingly similar to the hero and heroine of Into the Storm (it's refreshing when it's the woman who's afraid of committment, but it's less refresh...more

There were parts of this book that I really liked. There were parts of this book that I wish I could have fast forwarded through, except I was afraid I'd miss something. So, I read them. And, guess what? I wouldn't have missed anything.

I liked Ric from his early appearances, but I'm not sure he was enough to sustain his own book. That's just my opinion. Brockmann obviously thought otherwise. I just wasn't impressed with him. I found his story a little bit boring, and this book was saved, for me...more

Private investigator Rick Alvarado and his assistant Annie team up with FBI Agent Jules Cassidy and Actor Robin Chadwick to stop Gordon Burn's when he is linked to terrorists. As the relationships between Ric and Annie and Jules and Robin heat up so are the chances of danger and death.

Jules and Robin finally get their story who you first met in Hot Target. Yes they are gay, but they are so alive that I just loved their story and characters.

Sexy, lots of action, great characters with lots of er...more

Okay, I've definitely read too many of these now. This volume of the series seems to be my overall favorite, but I think that must mean that my brain has finally liquefied and run out my ears.

Once again we have lost the WWII subplots from earlier books. I liked those, so it's a shame to not have them in these later books. However, Brockmann is now doing a better job at integrating the characters, action, and romance elements without seeming quite as artificial as she did in the earlier stories....more

I carpooled into work today with one of my best friends in the entire world. And the last half hour or so of our commute was all about me gushing about this book. Well... me gushing about how magical and perfect Jules and Robin are that is. Because, omg, so perfect. Such hearts for eyes. Everything I could possibly want and more.

They are brilliantly written, so very in love and so very broken. Both wanting the other and thinking they can never have them. Both trying so very hard to get on with...more

I did enjoy the story of Ric Alvarado, private investigator, falling in love with his old friend Annie Dugan. But for me, the most enjoyable part of this book is seeing Robin Chadwick and Jules Cassidy finally getting together. All of them are caught up in trying to bring down a crime family. Annie and Ric have known each other for over a decade but Ric is friends with Annie's brother and has never made the move on her. Well, that and her brother told Ric that Annie is gay. She's not, and happil...more

Despite the crazy over the top ending I am givig this book a 5 star rating. I love the title and the two main stories, one about Ric a resigned cop and Annie a very feminist independant woman. The other is about a gay couple Jules FBI extrodinaire and Robin hollywood superstar, whose story was ongoing throughout a few books. These two couples together were great they just grouped together nicely and I loved their dialogue.

Let me start with Jules...I absolutely love this gay man. A hero in so man...more

I really liked this book, but couldn't believe that I'd somehow let one of the troubleshooters books get by me.

And when we got to two pivotal scenes, all of a sudden I realized that I HAD read this book before. I can't figure out how I could have forgotten this one since it's got some really compelling characters in it - Jules/Robin and the new Ric/Annie story. Best reason I can come up with is that I must have gotten this on audiobook before and let it run while I wasn't paying much attention (...more

As soon as I saw this book, I grabbed it just because it's by Suzanne Brockmann. After reading two books from the Troubleshooters series (though not in order), I'm convinced with her masterful writing I won't be disappointed - and I wasn't. This is the third book I read and I don't mind reading not in order. I would love to get my hands on the first ones though.

After reading the first few chapters, my reading pace just raced because Ms Brockmann didn't just capture my interest, she sustained it....more

OMG! It felt like my eyes were going to zip right out of my head because I was reading the ending so fast. The suspense in this one was a killer, and I almost gave into the temptation of cheating by reading the end because of the tension was overwhelming for me. I just couldn't see how they were going to get out of it at the end.

I LOVED all four of the MC, who were once again such dimensional characters, all with their strengths and their flaws. The fact that we got more of Jules and Robin was...more

The books in the Troubleshooters series are a perfect blend of thriller, mystery, military and romance. Every woman is strong, (almost) every man is enlightened, and everyone gets equal playing time! Brockmann's son is gay and she is one of the few authors I have read that treats her homosexual characters with dignity, honesty and realism. Allowing them to develop like any other character in her novels, as it should be! I llok forward to her summer release, which usually hits in August when I a...more

A Winner with Emotions and Suspense

This was my first book by Suzanne Brockmann and I was so impressed with it that I just had to pick up some of her previous novels. Her writing style just seem effortless in describing scenes, i.e the attachment of Jules and Robin, and giving substance to the plot, which for me are key elements in mysteries. When I was finished the first chapter I was hooked. The story moved along at a fast pace and I found it extremely interesting and easy to follow. I read pa...more

This is a new one on me. This is also in the middle of a continuing series of private investigators. Jules an FBI agent gay and out is after a bad guy who they think in smuggling terrorist into the US. Ric is an ex-cop who is still trying to find himself. Robin is a famous movie star who is so in the closet and in love with Jules. Annie is a tough fun full-figured secretary of Ric’s who in so ready and willing to be an agent. They all are after love and lawfulness. It was a fun little book and w...more

Y'know, the Ric and Annie story didn't do much for me. I think primarily I wasn't all that excited by "he's still trying to see her as friend's little sister while she's had the hots for him for ages" added to "caught in the lion's den with the big, bad, scary drug lord." Those parts just didn't feel as creative as Brockmann usually is.

But.

Oh, what a but... (so to speak). Robin and Jules' story is tense, dramatic, and hot. The choices each makes are heart-wrenching, and the way their personal ch...more

I was ambivalent about this book. Maybe because I hadn't read the prior books that included Ric, but I just didn't really care for Ric or Annie. Too much bickering and Annie having to constantly prove she's a tough girl etc. I think the two of them were pretty weak characters. On the other hand, I liked the storyline, the suspense, the touch of Hollywood again and of course, the very charming Jules. In fact, Jules & Robin just were stronger characters in the book that they ended up overshado...more

This is the 3rd Suzanne Brockmann novel I've read this past week, and I'm as unipressed with this one as I was with the first two. I gave up reading it after 2 chapters, I just couldn't devote the time to a book I know I'm going to be disappointed in. Again, way too many half-assed story lines, too many supporting characters and not enough focus on the main characters. I'm disappointed as I consider myself a connoisseur of romantic-suspense novels, and usually have no problem powering through th...more

Major movement in the Jules and Robin storyline in this book. "All through the Night" is possibly my favorite Brockmann book and this is the one that directly leads into it... making it higher on my list.
The main story in this book was not one of my favorites, but a lot of other characters romances were advanced (Max and Gina as well as Robin and Jules.)
Ric Alvarado has known Annie Dugan for years. Now he's hired her as his secretary, but she wants a more active role in the investigation busine...more

Wound around the very intricate and interesting plot of this thriller, there are the love stories of two different couples. The first is a private dectective who is trying to deny his love for his assistant whom he has known all his life as the baby sister of his best friend. The second is a high ranked, gay FBI agent who is trying to deny his attraction to a well known movie star who hasn't chosen to come out of the closet. The stories of the two couples, as well as the constant action involvin...more

Yes, I am rating a "smutty" romance 5 stars. I can't get over how much I enjoyed this book. It literally had it all - the plot had fantastic suspense, the characters were exceptionally developed, there were very real political and social implications, and the sex was great. I found myself laughing aloud during /numerous/ points and on several occasions stopped to re-read a few pages because I enjoyed the character interaction that much. Brockmann has fantastic writing style and I was instantly d...more

Man, I love the teeth clenching action scenes that Suzanne Brockmann builds. Straight out of a Charlie Sheen Nave SEAL movie. Especially since she's dropped the whole WW2 storylines. Beautiful!

Romance is just right and crispy.I loved Annie and her spunk. Also SB's trademark is her witty dialogue between the characters which ranges from downright cynicism to absolutely hilarious.

I've been wanting to read more of Jules and Robin and I'm loving this story as well. Can't wait to finish their HEA in...more

I have a bit of a mixed reaction to this book. I gave this book four stars because I loved, LOVED Jules and Robin's story... and their reunion was every bit the intense and emotional rollercoaster I was hoping for.

I knocked off a star because I found the male/female couple in this book to be completely boring. Though I've "read" the book over and over a hundred times, I can't even really tell you anything about Ric and whats-her-name, because frankly after the first read (and maybe even during...more

That was one wild ride! Forces of Nature was one book that I was completely unable to put down. Especially once I really got going. My poor work suffered and I'll be making it up tomorrow, for sure.

We had a dual story in this one, so let's start with the main story. Annie and Ric.

Ric Alvarez made an appearance early on in the Max/Gina storyline. Remember, Gina gets her hotel broken into and Ric is the detective on the scene. He even hit on Gina and Max got all jealous. Remember him? I had no ide...more

In this book Ric Alvarado (who was the police officer we met in Florida when Gina's hotel room was robbed during Sam & Alyssa's book) and Annie Dugan, and trying to find a balance. Plus Annie is his best friend's little sister, he's known her since she was 13 and been attracted to her since she was 16.
