One of the only books that investigates the Sagebrush Rebellion. A good poli. sci. analysis. Raised new questions, and corrected the popular misconception that James G. Watt, and the Sagebrush Rebellion more generally, wanted to privatize or sell-off BLM lands. I particularly enjoyed Cawley's analysis of Watt, Carter's hit list, and the MX racetrack. Highly recommended. 4 stars because it is not quite the detailed, comprehensive book I wanted to read. Could have used more voices from members of ...more

This is an absolutely fantastic book - insightful, full of details and yet concise - a very difficult combination. Definitely read this if you are interested in public land policy and/or the Sagebrush Rebellion. It's packed full of information.
