Thoroughly entertaining! An interesting man telling about his interesting life in an interesting way. David Attenborough reads it himself in the audio version I listened to, so you get his inimitable tones. Insights into the BBC in the early days of television, and the birth of the genre of nature documentaries. Travel to exotic places when it still required arduous journies, and insights and tales about he people, animals and places. Top rate

I know I love a book when I don't want to get off the bus or the subway because I want to keep reading. Especially when the person sitting next to me is muttering fire-and-brimstone Bible verses under his breath the whole time. Anyway: this book is fantastic, David Attenborough is fantastic, and my daydreams of following in his footsteps, traipsing around the New Guinea jungle in search of birds of paradise, are fantastic.

I love Attenborough and this is a great read - he did so much and experienced so much first hand - he is an inspiration. He saw many environments first hand untouched, many of these destinations no longer hold the mystique as they did in his time. The time taken to film in some remote locations, the precision of timing shots and the waiting in all kinds of weather it amazes me what they recorded.

Sir David Attenborough's memoirs are a must for anyone interested in Natural History films. If thats not your thing, then you'll still enjoy his countless tales of adventure, exploration and cultures around the world. Also a very good piece of history, as the tale of his career is pretty much the story of non-fiction programming since the BBC first went on air with television.

Excellent autobiography of David Attenborough (the _real_ narrator of The Planet Earth - none of this Sigourey Weaver crap, host of hundreds of nature shows from the BBC)
