Power Play (Sweet Valley High #4)
Elizabeth knows that Jessica has more on her mind than simply cleaning up the SVH campus. It’s obvious that the Beauties are out to become the most elite group of girls at school, even if it m...more
Basically, Jessica won't let Robin join her sorority(and who has sorority's in high school anyway?) because she's fat. And Robin gets all depressed but then gets motivated and loses like a bajillion pounds by pretty much starving herself and exercising too much. Great themes Francine! Like you haven't shoved down our throat how perfect Jess and Liz are already for 3 books (and...more
Trip down nostalgia lane not so good... I do remember my 11-14year old me thinking they were pretty silly but still an okay read. But since I read so many I must have been affected, and now I think about my 2 friends who ha...more
I love this particular story about Robin Wilson and how she transformed from a fat and bullied woman to a Miss Sweet Valley High. It might be just a typical story but I find it so inspiring. You'll never know what will happen. I admired the determination of Robin to enter the Pi Beta Sorrority but even if she didn't make it because Jessica blackballed her, she made her own way to bounce back and to be someone everyone else woul...more
I love these books because they're silly and trashy and awful, but this one -- no wonder I and my entire generation have body issues. And it's sad, because I should have liked this book. There's hazing! Shoplifting for attention! A Discomarathon! Miss Sweet Valley!
Did I mention the Discomarathon?
What happens? The town's...more
I really don't want to be a hater about anything related to Sweet Valley, since reading these books as an awkward pimply pre-teen was a VERY IMPORTANT part of my social calendar. And I hate to think that instead of reading great Literature, I was merely being brain washed into belie...more
"Robin has us throbbin'"? Nice.
The overuse of the word frenetic was replaced in this one by Jessica's obsession with the number 37.
And Elizabeth. Oh, Elizabeth. Carrying the weight of the world on her shoulders.
So, so bad.
Bring on the next one.
That's because every chubby gal secretly wants to go away for the summer and come back hot and svelte so you can lord it over the entire boy’s baseball team. (Well, I also wanted to make out with Kirk Cameron, but that was before he started spouting off about how bananas are a religious miracle.)
I wonder how they’re going to re-do Rob...more
awful, simply awful.
