My grandfather handed me this book (first published in 1950!) last week after we discussed forgeries in art. This is an interesting story of a man who forged dutch master paintings around World War II. Only the extensive introduction is actually worth reading. The rest of the book the author infuses his own machinations on the life of Han van Meegeren, which are mostly boring or obviously fantasized.

There is a newer book on this subject by Jonathan Lopez. However, from the synopsis this new book
