This book was written in 1971, so Mike Dukakis is just a state rep, the Big Dig hasn't even been imagined, and the author thinks Boston is about to enter an unprecedented period of cross-racial cooperation. It's almost my ideal book, but it was just written at the wrong time.

On the other hand, it's a fascinating look into the maybe 5 year period where the full crest of the 60s had already happened but the bitterness of the 70s hadn't yet taken hold.
