I read this years ago. This is my copy. The author was working as deputation coordinator for Baptist Mid-Missions when I was in college. His books are based on his and his co-workers' experiences as missionaries in the Central African Republic and the Chad Republic, formerly known as French Equatorial Africa.

Not a true story (as far as I can tell) so it loses a couple of points for that.

The dialogue is contrived and I disagreed with some of the missionaries' theology and methods.

It is okay.

I read this a long time ago when I was a child, but I remember being inspired by the faith and dedication the missionaries possessed during troubled times.
