Sad, but uplifting. That would be the summary for this book. It had been on my list to read since I started working in the library here. I just hadn't gotten around to it. Then we did a weeding of the books, getting rid of the ones that were outdated, unpopular, or just plain broken down - like this one. it is a little outdated too. Kids today can't really relate to the way things were back in the 60s to early 70s when this story happened. Ellen and her sister Jana both seemed to be high ...more
