The Fairy's Return (The Princess Tales)
Boy meets princess, and it's love at first sight. Both laugh at the same jokes. Both are named after birds. His name is Robin, hers is Lark. Could there ever have been a more perfect match?
But alas King Harrumphrey won't let Lark marry a baker's son. And Robin is betrothed to someone else.
Now toss in Robin's nonsense-talking brothers, Nat and Matt, their versifying fath

Like Annakin Skywalker, Ethelinda (from the first book) has returned. But this time she is determined that she won't make any of the same mistakes. Can the baker's son, a golden goose and Ethelinda make the princess laugh?
Each of these books is a charmer, filled with witty fun. Each has a message without being the least bit preachy. I would recommend this series to anyone with a daughter... or a granddaughter.. or to anyone with estrogen.

Earlier in the year before Harriet started reading, she went through a princess phase. She's still mad about princesses but now she prefers to draw them instead of reading about them. She also went through a period where she wanted to be read to during her long baths. So we read through Gail Carson Levine's short chapter books.

I'm reading this to Claire now. She's addicted to Princess books!
Claire is a princess addict (as I mentioned earlier) and really enjoyed this book. There are fairies, princesses, golden geese, contests, princes, magic wishes... you can't get much better than that! :) The formula is eternal for all little (and sometimes, I must admit, 'big') girls!

Another fun book from Levine's Princess Tales. Quick and witty as usual with Levine's re-spun fairy tales.
I believe I have read this book, although I only own four of the series. I remember really enjoying it.
Another cute and funny tale from Gail Carson Levine about the genderbender kingdom of Biddle.
Fun, silly, warm fairy tale retellings set in the kingdom of Biddle (6 stories).
I think this is a good book for people who like to read books with princesses
Quite a fun little book with a different take on old stories by giving them new twists. Most entertaining!
I really enjoy these short princess tales, they are cute and funny.
This was a cute quick story. I finished it in under an hour.
This was a fun book to read to my 8 and 6 year-old girls.
God, that book was good!
VERY interesting.
I love how witty and creative Gail Carson Levine is when she retells fairy tales!
Cute!
Very cute twist on old fairy tales.
Fun, quick, creative. I wish she would would go into more detail in these princess tales. She falls into "telling" instead of "showing." Another good read for the pre-teen, early teen. Although, I must say that Levine is using really young kids in a love story. I don't like that an 11-year-old falls in love in one day and knows who they want to marry, even if it is just a fairy tale. Too young to be concerned with matters of the heart in my book.
Another great book by Gail Levine. This one is based on a fairy tale about a princess who doesn't laugh and how her father tries to find someone (NOT a commoner) who can get her to laugh. Of course, she has already found the one she loves who makes her laugh, but he is a commoner. They are both sad and lonely until they find each other, but are kept apart because of their social status. Read it to find out how they finally get together!
It was pretty boring at first but the ending i thought was really creative and it made me smile. I liked it but it wasn't my favorite out of the Princess Tales
Another cute fairy tale told by Gail Carson Levine. This story is a take on the Golden Goose and is super cute and easy to read. A great bedtime story for kids!
Cute story about a princess who falls in love with a baker's son who happens to be a great joke teller to boot. A good read for 8 yrs. on up.
I really liked this one. Cute and very funny.
I liked this one a lot. Very comical. I laughed outloud several times at the silliness. Recommend: yes
A relatively silly book in a good way. Need to start the series from the beginning w/the Kidz.
I like this series of books - they are fairy tales, but with a twist. Easy, quick to read.
All of Gail Carson Levine's short stories have been great. They are quick and a light read.
I just love Gail Carson Levine. You really can't go wrong with these. They're great!

I love this series. Especially good for fractured fairy tale lovers.
