Someone Is Trying to Tell You Something

This book is a glimpse into a vast conversation happening illegally and in public.

All over the world, people are writing messages on the walls and sidewalks of the cities in which we live. They are staying up late, breaking the law, and taking risks to say something to you.

Some of it is funny. Some of it is beautiful. Lots of it is up

Great concept, poorly executed. I've personally seen much more interesting, funnier, and more provocative graffiti than this. These authors must be lazy, this book could have been much better.

Eh, I have mixed feelings about this book. The graffiti itself, I adored (for the most part).

But I wasn't a fan of the curation of the book. I know that the book spawned from a blog of the same name, and that the blog itself began with a series of photographs taken by the authors in San Francisco. Recommends it for: those who appreciate thoughtful and precise words
This was written by a friend of mine. Mostly it's a pictorial of graffiti around the world... not presented as an art or coffee table book, but as a statement or reflection of humanity. This is not about tagging or defacing valuable and private property. This is about heartfelt messages reaching thousands through the efforts of a few that risk much to share their words... and for little reward except being read.

I have to admit, some graffiti is amazing, thought provoking, humorous and beautiful. I hadn't thought much about their messages until looking through this book. Messages of hate and despair are the most disturbing... and heart wrending.

there are photos of freak alley gallery in boise in this book, which made me more excited than any rational person should ever get over graffiti.

This book had some interesting stats on graffiti and the battle against it by some major metropolitan areas.
More importantly thought is that it gave me a couple decent ideas for "projects".
