8/24 still reading this book. it's a quick read, although i'm not really sure how i feel about it. i kinda feel as though the writing is all over the place and what is said in a sentence could you have had a whole chapter about it. it's not a bad book, but i guess i would have written it differently. i hope to finish in the next couple days.

i really enjoyed reading this book, the author really did a good job of connecting all the characters, and their problems to one another. The book was suspensful, and had a great story plot.

I picked up this book on a whim, using classic Geometric Theorems: if a = b, and b = c, then a = c. If Jodi Picoult recommends this book, and Cynthia devours Jodi's novels (and I of course trust Cynthia's judgment), then this will be a good book. The logic did not fail me. This book was beautifully done, and Cox treated the subject with grace and delicacy. There were parts that I did not understand, true. However, the ending was perfect. It was believable, and Cox truly understood that Sop...more

This book was similar to the Jodi Picoult books, but not as suspenceful as hers.

This was an extremely fast read. The writter seems to have a difficult time identifying with the surroundings, she doesn't stay on topic and she throws in odd sentences like... there was a dog sniffing around for food? What? What dog? Random.
I found she developed characters that didn't have significant rolls that didn't add to the story line, just added pages. It played out like an after school special.
I thought the ending was bizarre.

This was a good book, I had no idea who did it but the ending left me wanting more. The end did not tie it up for me and left me needing a few more chapters.

Easy read; similar to Jodi Picoult's writing, though not as attention-getting or suspenseful.

Read this book for book club. It is a very fast read. I like the author's quirky metaphores and delightful insights at the end of the chapters. Almost like she is thinking aloud, unaware that she is writing these random thoughts down for us to read while she tells us the story of her characters. The book is fun to read just for these insights and unusual descriptive style.

A beautifully written book about secrets and lies, and how they never hold. Teens in a small town drink, party, have sex, and a girl is raped. She can't remember who did it, but her boyfriend at the time, Crow, is put on trial. Parents have secrets, kids have secrets. And we wait. This will make a good book to recommend to my students...for its content and its writing.

Ostensibly about a young girl who is raped just before she loses her virginity to her high school boyfriend as well as being about her boyfriend's trial for her rape. However, this story is really somehow the anticlimactic backdrop for the simple telling of relationships. A good read. I'm stuck with the stars on this one - really want the option of the 3.5 here.

"Love came in so many forms. We love for weakness or strength, she thought, for security or wildness, for money, or beauty, or sometimes for sadness. Whatever reason, the brain turned giddy with self-worth, and self-worth became indelibly linked to the one who was loved."
