This is book #1 of a not very well known girls series trilogy published in 1936. It's a surprisingly good mystery. There are no villains in this book but a centuries old mystery is solved by three American girls. All of the ends are neatly tied up and leave the reader wishing for more. Luckily, there are 2 more books in the series.

I was drawn into this book by the first page. The setting and the main characters were very likeable and interesting. It was a mystery but didn't have a villain which was a nice change of pace from the mystery books I usually read. Looking forward to the other 2 books in this series.
