Nobody talks about Howard's writing technique, but believe it or not he was a master at economical storytelling. There is never a lack of description, but he sticks to the goal: the story moves along and absolutely never loses momentum. As a writer, one could do a lot worse than Howard as a model.

Robert Ervin Howard was an American pulp writer of fantasy, horror, historical adventure, boxing, western, and detective fiction.
