This is a well-written book. Rady makes a compelling argument and does so in a style accessible to most readers. His thesis is easy to find, his points of argument are laid out systematically and he places his argument solidly within the framework of medieval Hungarian historiography. He does assume his readers possess a moderate level of Hungarian historical knowledge. As Eastern Europe tends to be slighted in Western history classes, I am not sure that his assumptions hold true.
