When the cousins visit each other, their differences come between them. How can they solve their problem? With a spell, of course! But finding the right one isn't so easy. The rhyming text m ...more

Young Reader Reaction: Our daughter laughed with almost every spell. She wanted to be able to turn the air into cotton candy and eat a field full of pizza. We read this one several times.

Adult Reader Reaction: This is a fun story, and not completely predictable. Mitzi and Muffletump have lots of personality. The illustrator does a wonderful job giving the cousins style - I loved the swim goggles on Mitzi!

Pros: Two sassy witches and some cute spells create a book that is fun to read out loud toge

A ghoulish take on the tale of "The City Mouse and the Country Mouse". Mitzi, the city witch is excited to see that her cousin Muffletump, who lives far away in the country, has come over for a visit. She instantly wants to show her around and give her a taste of the city life. Muffletump, however, has a hard time adjusting the the sights, sounds, and smells of the city and uses her magic to make things more comfortable for herself. Mitzi starts to get frustrated, but then her cousin announces t ...more

A witchy version of City Mouse Country Mouse- Mitzy is the city witch who lives in a witch hat shaped apartment and loves noise and city life, Muffletump is the country witch who lives in a tree likes to swim in her pond and likes the sound of crickets. The cousins love each other but can't stand the way the other lives. Is there any way these two cousins can come together happily? Well, maybe with the help of a few magic spells!

This is one of my all-time favourite kids' books (and only partly because Scott Gibala-Broxholm signed and doodled in our copy). City Witch, Country Switch tells a sweet story of family, sisterhood and learning how to compromise while including plenty of funny nonsense. Highly recommended.

I gave this book five stars as I definitely enjoyed its humor. It is the story about two witch cousins. They both wanted to see how each other lived. They were creatures of their habitat, but still wanted to be close, so they did a magic spell and moved themselves next to each other.

A new preview book at the CRC. Really refreshing for halloween children's lit. The illustrations look as thought they also belong in a boutique shop.
