Just because Meg Cabot is primarily known as a YA author and the "author" of this book is Mia Thermopolis (the main character of Cabot's YA Princess Diaries series), does not mean that this is a YA book. It's not. It's an adult romance.
The story was cheesy, cliche and comical. I laughed out loud A LOT ... and the scenes I was laughing at were probably not supposed to be as humorous as I found them! And the idea that it was a common practice for maidens to kidnap men f More...

Normally I'm a huge Meg Cabot fan. I picked up this book and liked the main character immediately. And the knight's character too. However, it turned out to be more like a Harlequin romance. I hate to say it. But I wasn't expecting so much sensuality. It could have been such a wonderful book, but there was far too much sex in it. I'd hoped that most authors would learn from Stephenie Meyer that having tension in a book is much better than sex scenes. It makes me sad, since I have almost

Personally I was really surprised. I have never read a book by this author, but I figured it had to be clean due to the fact that it is by the same woman who did the Princess Diaries, all I can say is it was a waste. I did not bother even finishing it. The story could have been good, but it was so full of cliche and way to much sex. The adjectives used were the same.. over and over, and after the first "sex" scene, which was described in a detail I fail to understand the neccesity

Alright, once again I would like to know why movies have ratings but with books? You have to guess. Because this book makes you guess the rating WRONG.
Pros: It was a cute fun read. If you are in the mood for moderatly smutty, self indulgent, completely fluffy romance. Which as it happens I sometimes am. It's pretty funny.
Cons: Who in their right mind connects the Princess Diaries (which I'm only on book 4 of but I'm pretty sure I'd let a 12 year old read) with a book More...

I chose the book Ransom My Heart by Meg Cabot because I enjoy longer books and I have always loved Meg Cabot's books. The book was about how a young woman named Finnula Crais, an esteemed huntress, is forced to kidnap a man and hold him hostage to help pay off her sister's dowry. Finnula, or Finn, ends up kidnapping a man who is lying about his identity and attempting to keep his crush on Finnula hidden. My favorite quote in the book was, "Try that again, sir, and you'll be sucking down tha

Generally I think Meg Cabot's books are pretty predictable, and sometimes I cant escape the feeling that im dealing with the same teenage girl over and over in a new setting - but despite this I still find myself enjoying her books. On the whole her work is humourous and highly readable - and that is why I wish I hadn't picked up Ransom My Heart.
Ransom My Heart is the tale of Finnula Crais and LordDickface Hugo Fitzstephen as they bicker their way through the English countryside.

Another book in the summer of romance novels - this one will set a high bar for the others to attain, however. Reading through it brought me back to the basic principle that a good book does not need to be high literature if it it makes you want to stay up for hours to finish reading this one. And I certainly did with this book - much more so than almost any of the others I've plowed through recently.

A book by Mia Thermopolis (Meg Cabot)? I thought when I first saw this. So being the Meg Cabot fan, I check out this book from the library and began reading it that night. The first shock came on the very first page with the date: England, 1291. Holy cow this was long ago. But I read on and on. By the time I was finally able to stop reading, it had been well over an hour.

Finnula Crais is in a bit of a quandary. The year is 1291 and her older sister Mellana is pregnant by her lover, Jack Mallory, a troubadour who is dead broke. Mellan begs Finnula to help her and Finnula comes up with a plan. She will kidnap a rich man and use his ransom to pay Mellana’s dowry. Finnula has a low opinion of men in general. She thinks they are useless creatures. The reason she feels this way is because of her first unwanted marriage that ended with her old senile husband dying the

I was quite surprised with this book. Here I was, thinking I was reading a Young Adult book in Ransom My Heart, only to find out that it is afterall, a full-fledge adult book! Deceived (or not), it was a good read nonetheless.
Set in Medieval England, Ransom My Heart portrays a very easy transition to the said period. I came to terms with the change in ways very easily, what with all the narrative style and the characters' attitudes. It More...

So I have always been a big Meg Cabot fan, really I have, whether it was reading about Princess Mia's awkward adventures or some of her other fluffy, light-hearted romances. So I figured when I picked up a novel written by "Princess Mia" with the help of Meg Cabot I was in for a winner...however, this was not the case. The plot reminded me a lot of Roberson's Lady of the Forest but not quite as good. Maybe I have just been in one too many gender classes for my own good, but lots of bit

Okay, I understand why Forever by Judy Blume gets shelved in the YA section, but this novel definitely should not be classified as that. I'm nowhere near one tenth of the book and already, there's mentions of perky breasts and erections. Just look at the cover. It looks like the cover of a Harlequin romance novel. (But it's a fetching cover; the scenery and attire really enhances the genre.) The storyline is Harlequin worthy, too. So why, pray tell, is this still sitting in the YA shelf?

Mia, tokoh di Princess Diaries nulis novel [bisaaa aja Meg Cabot nyari duit:].
Temanya ga seperti Princess Diaries kok, tapi lebih ke historical romance, jaman perang salib/ holy war.

Standar sih, jadinya malah fallin' in love gitu.

Purportedly written by "Princess of Genovia Mia Thermopolis", who I understand to be a popular movie character, this book is a typical bodice-ripper, airport-novel read. Or more properly, a "braies-ripper", since the main female character has a propensity for wearing this form of late-medieval menswear, and the main male character spends most of the book fantasizing about removing them (spoiler alert: he does). Though interspersed with the occasional "God's teeth"

Okay so to me this is more like 4.5 stars because I really liked it but I wouldn't call it one of my favorite stories. I didn't realize that it was a romance novel so readers beware there are some racy bits and they are fairly descriptive. The story itself I think is good and I really liked the characters. I thought they were well written and I love that Finnula is such a stronge female character, finally a girl that can take care of herself and put people in their place. I thought Hugo was

Finnula Crais is a female Robin Hood, known as Fair Finn. She helps feed the poor (by stealing from the rich). She is a skilled archer. If that isn’t enough to cause the town to gossip, she also wears men’s clothes. gasp The horror! When Finnula’s unwed sister becomes pregnant, Finnula is forced to help. Finnula goes in search of a rich man to take hostage to pay for her sister’s dowry. She captures Hugo, a knight on his way home from the Crusades. An amused Hugo allows himself to be

Care for lusty reading to wild-up your imagination? Ransom My Heart is definitely book for you... Hehehe.. Well, as a beginner for adult-romance novel reader. There's a lot of questions that pop in my head. Such as, is it all sexual intercourse and sexual thoughts in this particular genre always been the main purpose for all the plot-line of the story? Or is it all that stuff are the main purpose for created this genre?
I mean, two main characters in this book are TOTALLY sexual drive More...

Okay so the beginning had some major promise. The first half was a page turner. What's going to happen? Will they get together or not? A page turner that made me stay up way longer than I should have been awake. Then I passed that part and was kind of left deflated. I love these main characters but feel that the end was missing something. Like why was Finn acting the way she was? Hugo never asked her that. The reader knew why she was acting that way but he never did. I wanted answers a

I loved this book, but then again I love Meg Cabot. She never lets me down! First I would like to say, Yes I read every Princess Diary Book enough the half's. So therefore I could pick up some hints in the book that you could only pick up if you read the Princess Diaries Series.
The book on its own was a very good story, kept me intrigued and wanting more. I thought there the "romance" scenes were well placed and their wasn't a lot of them. I haven't read many romance More...

I would suggest reading this only if you're 16 and above, but I guess that would be slightly hypocritical since I'm 15 and I read it all the way through. So I'm going to recommend being 15 and above before picking this one up.
Anyways, I was kind of surprised at some of the content in here (you know what I mean). I mean, I've read that kind of stuff in YA before, but not in any YA by Meg Cabot. She usually doesn't go that far and get that specific. Ahem. Anyways.

I adored this book. When I first started it, it was slow and seemed to follow the same pace as every other historical romance I've read with the head-strong rather over modern woman and the stubborn yet good looking man. And though I like these sorts of storys I have to say the ending are always the same and sometimes you just get to the point where you read the first few chapters and just like that you know where the storys going, you've read it before and by now it was getting boring.
