First off, the prologue or foreword about the history of the demons was a little bit misleading and unexpected — it didn't mesh with the cover, and it was probably unnecessary. It could have been told by the Brady character, maybe in a flashback of him teaching Jordan, the heroine —I don't know. It just seemed out of place the way it was done, a small bit of timeless history from some mythic time embedded in a contemporary paranormal story.

The rest of the story was mostly fi
3.5 Very decent PNR/UF that starts a new series. The series is getting good reviews, so I'll definitely put the next couple on my TBR list. There was a little too much repeated internal monologuing, and there were a few irritating instances of stopping to kiss passionately at inappropriate times, but the suspense plot was quite good with some unexpected twists, and Ms. Somers writes a decent fight scene.
This was the first full book I read on my iPod Touch, with the Kindle book application. At the time I got the book, it was free (it's not at present, sorry), so I thought I'd give it a try.

I did enjoy the book, but there were some things I think the author could have written better. When the two main characters, Jordan and Gage get back together, they couldn't keep themselves off of each other. While that could have been endearing, two trained kick-ass assassians just wouldn't put the other in m
Centuries ago in a far planet, two brothers ruled the kingdom and both loved the same woman but she chose the oldest. The youngest brother covted all his older brother had and when a daughter was born to the Queen he became enraged to stir up his followers to sympathize in his favor. Years passed and the Princess grew into a beautiful young lady, but a terrible drought plagued the land, the brother saw his opportunity for revenge and told the citizens that the King had angered the gods and only ...more
First lines: “Jordan, wait.”
Jordan McAdam didn’t so much as glance over her shoulder, let alone stop. She damn well would have taken the rear door out of the precinct if she’d known Officer Gage Campbell was going to be hot on her heels. She thought he was tied up with their captain. In fact, she’d been counting on it.

"Unbreakable" is a new-to-me series by a new-to-me author that really impressed me with both its detailed storyline and interesting characters with whom I quickly connected. Five y
I've tried to re-read this book a couple of time, but I always fail. Reason enough for me to lower to 2 stars.
A kick ass heroine is up my alley, but not when her brain is turned off by a hunk. Above all when the said hunk had lied to her. Moreover, I don't like this kind of "second chance stories".

If he lies to you he needs to grovel quite a lot. If he let you believe he's been dead, he needs to do much, much more. Above all, I despise being told that love trumps all, including life. So if your

This was much better than I was expecting - probably not a full 5 stars (more like 4.5) but I thought I would round up in light of all of the low ratings. Great characters, world and an interesting plot full of twists and turns. They story was short as some have noted (a long novella or short novel) but there are 3 more in the series for me to get my fix from!
For the Buffy fans out there - I couldn't help but be reminded of Riley Finn and the Initiative a little. Although that's not to say this
I did not like this book at all. As a matter of fact, I couldn't even finish it - and that's saying a lot. What was disturbing to me was that the story seemed very juvenile, it was peppered with steamy, explicit sex scenes that seemed totally unnecessary. I'm by no means a prude, I likes me some good erotica, but I just found myself cringing with this one. If the story had been more compelling, I could have handled the heat, but it just made me feel icky. I don't think I've ever said that about ...more
The actual plot of this book was pretty good it kept me wanting to know what was going on to the end. My only critisism was the sex scenes started to get a bit repetitive, so I ended up skipping over most of them because I wanted to find out what was going on with the main storyline. I enjoyed her characters & dialogue, she wrote them very well and I will definitely check out her other books.

This new series to me was a freebie from Amazon. I read it and had to buy all the others. Jordan is a female cop I can really admire. For her to lose her lover must have been devastating. This may feel kind of like Rachel Caine's Weather Wardens in some sense. If you liked that book, I think you would like this one.
3.5 I think. Read this back a few years ago. I like the world just thought the hero was a jerk sometimes. He had a hard time dealing with the fact that his "death" and intentions to keep the heroine safe didn't quite pan out the way he expected them to.
Got half way thru and gave up reading. A poorly knock off version of vampire turned vampire hunters. Been there read that. It was a struggle reading the first half. Was hoping it would pick up and get interesting and failed.

Jordan and Gage are greaT, Quinn and Brady awesome the who group gets in a kicks some butt, but i could due without such graffic sex. It borders on slight porn and just not my cup of tea. ;)
I should have read the reviews before choosing this book. The writing and story are great, but the sex talk gets in the way.

A born and raised Maritimer, Sydney Somers fell in love with writing when she finished her first story, Jenny and the Glowing Green Mittens. After attempting her first book in high school, she set writing aside to focus on school. While getting her degrees in psychology and education, Sydney tried her hand at journalism between part time jobs before finally returning to her love of writing.
