God has used this book, in conjunction with two others, to help me see so many ways in which I had been living a lie in my Christian life. God has used McGee's words to "shine the light" on my very performance oriented approach to life. God has exposed my fear of failure, my tendency toward perfectionism and many other ways in which I have "bought in" to the Enemy's plan.

This book is rooted in scripture and I found the author's handling of the bible responsible a...more

My pastor's wife gave this to me today - it could not have come at a better time. That was not an accident.

Very timely book for me and a lot of rich content. I will re-read this again and again. When my children are older - I'd also like them to read it and start out with a better perspective of true success than I did.

this book changed my life. as i read it, though i had always known about Jesus, i had never truly had a relationship with Him. i read in this book the truth from God's view and the world's view- and i was finally able to make sense of it- and i finally began to believe that God might save even me, through Jesus. I finally believed that had i been the only person on earth, Christ would still have gone to the cross for me, and though i didn't understand it yet, i began to believe it in faith and m...more

I also listened to this one, and it has a lot of parts that I need to re-listen too... probably would have done better reading it so I could ponder a bit more - but definitely has me thinking about the ill uses of guilt, and the destructive force of shoulds... It also is helping me evaluate the truth that we all bring our own experiences and perspective to each of lifes learning moments. This is paramount for dealing with my kids right now..

This was truly a life changing book at a critical point in my life. If you have ever struggled with pleasing others, wanting approval (of anyone!), failure, perfectionism, this is an excellent book. I recommend reading it with a small group and completing the workbook if you want accountability and support. A great study for young adults (or any age).

I still have this book on my bookshelf. I haven't read it in over a decade, so I didn't know how to rate it, but I know this: this book helped me sooo much in college. It's underlined. And highlighted. And through this book, at that time in my life, I was blessed. I hope to re-read it again sometime.

What Christian counseling should be...exposing the lies of the enemy and replacing them with the truth of God through Jesus Christ...I've read and worked this book three times and have helped others work through the book. The truth shall set you free...this book turns the light on the truth!

I pull this book out and read it once a year. I've read it cover to cover at least 4 times. It speaks directly to me every time I read it.
Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, TX offers an 8 week class every Spring that uses this book. I highly recommend it.

This books is a great book for those with a low self-esteem and may have co-dependent tendencies. McGee addresses problems in one chapter and informs you on how to change it in the following chapter. A great book and a must read for those who are insecure!

This was a very powerful book. We read this book as a study group and came together to talk about it weekly. The discussion that rolls from reading this book just spawns a desire to go deeper and to grow. I would recommend that everyone read this book.

there are only a few books that enter each of our lives that has the potential to change the entire course of our life - Robert McGees' Search for Significance is that book for me! No other book has had such an impact and influence on my future than SforS.

This book lays out some of the most simple truths from the bible. The book as a read is ok, but the value comes when you do the workbook that comes with the book. The workbook makes everything that you are reading hit home.

This book actually changed my life. Maybe not at the time of reading it but by making me aware of how I am and helping me to understand myself overtime it was in some ways a life saver. Or relationship saver. Really Good.

This book was greatly in depth study of God's Word, and how my Significance is in Him alone. It also taught "how" to change negative thoughts to the transforming and renewing those thoughts to what God says about the individual. I was hoping for a bit more at the end. But only time practicing the principles will tell the strength of this book study.

I use this to disciple most every girl I meet with. A great building block for self reflection, insight, and learning who God says we are instead of who we think or what we've been told to be.

A life changing book for me. I was believing all the lies of the world and not believing the truth that is promised in the Bible. I made some major life changes after reading this book.

This book is like the bible to me. Which is heretical, so I won't say that- but almost. It's life changing. I read it whenever I am insecure or unsure of God's love for me. Read it!

I've read this book twice and it's great!! As the title indicates, it was very valuable in helping me see my true worth through God's eyes, instead of needing the approval of others, accomplishments, etc to make me feel valuable. It's easy to understand and very practical. And it includes a great workbook! I have 5 other friends who love it as well!

Theology narrow, although I didn't whole heartedly disagree. Thought there were opportunities for more rich examples and drawing on the breadth of the power of Christ. Think, though the workbook part offers some helpful reflections.

Christian counseling book - read during college when I was considering going into the counseling profession

This is probably my favorite book of all-time. Perhaps because of its relevance to me at the time of reading it. I read it during college, when I was really seeking to find purpose and acceptance in my life. This book brings to light the universal lies that trigger our feelings of self-doubt and unworthiness. It is important to remain focused and aware of the fact that we all serve a greater purpose as God's children and that he created us all with the greatest amount of significance possible! S...more

great book that makes you think beyond what you knew.

This book has a lot of good principles about finding our true self-worth in Christ and what He has done for us, rather than our own performance or others' opinions of us. One limitation of this book is that it is not written in a way that appeals to my emotions but more my intellect. After finishing the book, I think it is a great foundation for dealing with issues of self worth. Sometimes the truth takes a while to sink in, but it is in there. The main lie the book addresses is:
