This is a really easy read for those in advanced French. I loved reading about the childhoods of French speakers who did not traditionally grow up in France. Another take on French culture.

Leïla Sebbar is an Algerian author, the daughter of a French mother and an Algerian father. She spent her youth in colonial Algeria but now lives in Paris and writes in French.
