the illustrations in this book are beautifully drawn and the book itself so lovingly designed. as an object, it is 5 stars for how it pleases the eye and feels in the hands.

the story itself pleased me somewhat less. it is my understanding that this is a picture book adaptation of an animated film, and it might have simply lost some of its potency in the medium-switch.

it claims to be about a philosophical little hedgehog on his way to meet with his friend Bear, but i don't really get the philoso

Kozlov creates as story here about determination and friendship as Hedgehog brings his jam to his friend bear's house. The fog and the animals who populate it seem to be both alluring and menacing as they try to distract Hedgehog from his journey, but the entire time Hedgehog remembers the affection he has for his friend and anticipates the fun they will have together. He is a level-headed character and the voice of reason throughout the story.

The images are subtle and draw the reader into the c

This story by Sergei Kozlov is made with stills from my favourite children's animation directed by Yuri Norstein. I used to show the animation to engage pre-readers when I was teaching and it enthralled and amazed them every time. The book is nowhere near as brilliant as the animation because the moving image and the sound effects bring much more atmosphere - which obviously the book can't. It's a wonderful story and has illustrations which capture the imagination - the original artwork by Norst ...more

If you've never seen The Hedgehog in the Fog, do yourself a favor and remedy that right now. Then go find this book and read it. While the translation is a little different from the film, it's still perfectly delightful, and the artwork is comparable.

This book is based on one of my most favourite short films of all time, a simple little story about Hedgehog going to see his friend, and having a very different journey altogether. Go check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oW0jv...

HAve read to my kinds in latvian. Somewhat not really a stories... short and somtimes wiht no meaning at all. Maybe this is good, but I feel that there should be at leas some storie behind each story.

The cover illustration told me that this gonna be a very special book. And it really IS! Little hedgehog is sooo lovely and cute. Children will adore it and philosophical animal is a collectors must have!
