This is one of the best collections of literary criticism I have seen in the last five years. Probably it is so good because the focus of attention is so worthy of consideration: this is a collection of critical essays on the work of Rae Armantrout.

It's clear poets are amazed, inspired, befuddled and charmed by her presciently latter 21st century poetics.

Poets also contribute some poems "after" her style, and those are fun reading too.

I wish I'd had this book when doing my thesis. Armantrout's interview with Lyn Henjinian would have been invaluable.

"The compression of poetry can create these contested, conflicted spaces. . . we seem to be learning that 'reality' is composed of such positive/negative, wave/particle, on/off entities. . .I mean/don't mean. I mean that experience is double, that doubleness is the essence of consciousness."
