The plot and characters sound good, but the writing style doesn’t work for me.

The author is my dear friend's sister-in-law, so I was most curious to read one of her books. This was the first, but I found I like her writing style. The story lacked intensity/depth, but there was a little mystery, romance, history, and just enough characters to make it enjoyable to read. I would probably read another of her books.

I love this book. There are two complete novels in one volume. Read them in order. They are both exciting, contain mysteries that unfold slowly, with lots of sexual tension and great endings.
